The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena (XBox 360)    The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena (PS3)

If there's a reason to get a copy of The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, it's that it also contains The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay – which is both one of the best titles ever made on the original XBox and the prequel to this brand-new Vin Diesel-starring first-person action game.

You take on the role of Riddick (from The Chronicles of Riddick and Pitch Black movies) and must use stealth and action to overcome the merciless crew of the predatory Merc-ship Dark Athena – cheating death through a series of spectacular battles and events, Riddick fights for his life amid a storm of malevolence and horror…

Game are selling the XBox 360 release for £8.99 – click here for more details. PlayStation 3 owners can click here to buy their version for £9.89 from Simply Games.

The Saboteur

Set in a stylised open-world 1940s Nazi-occupied Paris, The Saboteur sees you play as Irishman Sean Devlin who is on a mission to get vengeance against the evil regime – with the help of the French Resistance, British Intelligence and a massive arsenal of weaponry.

Although there is no multiplayer mode (something of a rarity these days), the single-player campaign is challenging enough to keep you coming back for more. Plenty of side missions also mean that it will take you a considerable amount of time to even begin getting anywhere near 100% completion.

BioShock 2 (XBox 360)    BioShock 2 (PS3)

BioShock 2 is the sequel to the critically-acclaimed BioShock, and is set a decade after the events of the original game. Your Big Daddy is one of the first of its kind, although reactivating with no knowledge of the past ten years, and scours the city of Rapture in a vain attempt to relocate the Little Sister it's been paired with…

As well as a gripping single-player mode which is every bit as exciting as the original, a brand-new multiplayer section is also included. This story-driven mode sees you take on the role of a splicer fighting in Rapture's Civil War in 1959, with five different variety of options (two of which have a single and team based mode).

Army of Two: The 40th Day

Army of Two: The 40th Day is a first-person shooter and is the sequel to Army of Two (unsurprisingly). It again focuses on two player co-operative play, employing a cover system, but you can still get involved on your lonesome with the computer acting as your partner.

Tyson Rios and Elliot Salem are combatant partners who, with the assistance of their handler Alice Murray, must fight to survive and prevail over invading forces that have engulfed Shanghai in a devastating terrorist attack.

The XBox 360 Elite has tons of decent cheap games available for it

Ever since Microsoft did away with the middle option console (the Premium with a 20GB or 60GB hard drive, depending on when you bought it), everyone's been left with two options – the Arcade or the Elite. Whilst the price difference is quite big, at least you now get 120GB of storage space to play with!

It also comes in a black finish, which although similar in looks to the PlayStation 3, actually looks a wee bit better. I probably shouldn't have said that, as I have no doubt fanboys might get a little upset…

Anyway, Amazon currently have a deal whereby you can get the system, plus a copy of BioShock 2, for £179.99 – which can also be upgraded, for an extra £10, to include either a Wireless Entertainment Pack or one of a choice of seven games (Assassin's Creed II, Mass Effect 2 and Dante's Inferno being just three from the list).

Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 (Wii)    Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 (PSP)

Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 is a first-person shooter set in World War II, starting on the Normandy beaches trying to control German bunkers and then moving on to secure a village somewhere in France.

As well as a gripping and engaging single-player campaign, there's also an online multiplayer mode to take advantage of too. Supporting up to 32 gamers at once, you can take part in three different match types – Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and Infiltration.

Family Trainer (With Family Trainer Mat Controller)

While it's fair to say that many third party Wii games are nothing more than shovelware (stuff thrown together in the hopes someone will buy it), there are also some very good titles hidden in amongst the crap – with Family Trainer being one such example.

Coming with a Twister-like mat, this provides a variety of different mini-games which gamers of any age can get into straight away. Think of it as a much more fun, and physically knackering, version of Wii Fit.

If you fancy Family Trainer, with a Family Trainer Mat Controller, click here to buy it for £17.99 from ShopTo.
