NBA 2K6

NBA 2K6 is very much showing its age now, which isn’t too surprising considering it came out in 2005. When you see how cheap it is though, you might consider a purchase to serve as an introduction to how the series plays - the controls have never really changed, you see.

For all you achievement mentalists out there, this also acts as a very easy way to rack up an extra 1,000 points. I believe that you can get them all within as little as one match!

Click here to get the XBox 360 version of this game for just £4.99 from Game, or click here to buy the original XBox release for £7.49 from Forget The Rest. Well worth picking up to see how these cheap games play, like I said before.

NBA 2K7

As far as basketball games go, the 2K series is right up there with anything E.A. have to offer. In fact, it would be fair to say that they’re actually often BETTER than NBA Live (insert year here).

NBA 2K7 came out in 2006, so the rosters will be quite old - however, the price is low enough to warrant a purchase to get to grips with how it plays.

Click here to buy this XBox 360 game for £4.99 from Game. Or you could click here to get the XBox version for £7.98 (as long as you spend £15 or more, otherwise it’s £9.97 delivered) from Amazon, or click here to buy the PlayStation 3 release for £10.99 from WH Smith.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07

Although it’s a little out-of-date, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 is well worth picking up while it’s available for a cheap price. It controls similarly to 08 (and probably 09), so there’s almost no learning curve.

There’s a total of 53 golfers to choose from, 32 of which are fictional, and 21 courses for you to play on - everything else is pretty much what was available in Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08.

Game are selling this PS2 title for £7.99 - click here for more details. Alternatively, click here to get the XBox version for £10.99 from SoftUK or click here to buy the PS3 release for £12.99 from base.com.

Cars

Cars is a game based on the film of the same name, except that this is technically a sequel as it takes place after the events of the movie. The story sees Lightning McQueen preparing for and racing in the 2006 Piston Cup season.

Five chapters allow you to race against many of the other characters that you know and love from the hit Disney/Pixar film. Kids will especially enjoy this.

Click here to get the PSP version for £8.99 from SoftUK, click here to buy the DS release for £10.99 from Zavvi, or click here to get the XBox version for £11.99 from SoftUK.

Midway Arcade Treasures

Old arcade games are still great fun to play, even now. Classics like Defender, Rampage, Paperboy and Smash TV are more playable than certain titles that have just been released (I’ll name no names, *cough* Iron Man *cough*).

Midway Arcade Treasures contains over 20 of these classic games, all in one convenient collection. You also get some bonus stuff like interviews and retro music.

If you fancy this XBox title, click here to get it for just 99p from The Game Collection (it won’t, however, work on your XBox 360).

Crash: Tag Team Racing

Crash: Tag Team Racing is very similar to the Mario Kart games, except instead of Mario characters you have Crash characters instead (obviously). One of those cheap games that’s good fun it is as well.

Interestingly, you can fuse two cars together on the fly by crashing into another player - this turns your vehicle into a super vehicle equipped with a massive gun!

Click here to pick up the XBox (yes, the original XBox!) version for £8.99 or click here for the PSP release, which is £9.99 - both from SoftUK.

XBox Live 2100 Points Card

Tesco are selling the XBox Live 2100 Points Card for £12.97.

This can be used to buy games from the XBox Live Arcade and additional items for games you already own, amongst other things.

Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows

Play also have Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows, on the XBox, for £7.99.

Cripes, I think Play must have found some extra stock in a back room somewhere - GBA games and XBox games are about as regular as a very unregular thing round these parts.

XBox Live Starter Kit

To get the XBox Live Starter Kit for £24.99 from Powerplay Direct, simply click here.

This contains a copy of Project Gotham Racing 2, a wired headset and a 12 month subscription to XBox Live (all compatible with both the original XBox and XBox 360).

Open Season

Open Season is £7.99 at SoftUK.

This is for the original XBox - I wasn’t even aware that online stores were still selling XBox games.
