There’s a few animal games available for the DS, but none have quite hit the heights of popularity that the Nintendogs series has. Probably something to do with Nintendo making this one themselves, instead of farming it out to a dodgy developer.

Nintendogs: Dachshund & Friends lets you train up and look after a Dachshund or six other types of dog. Play games with it and enter competitions in order to win money - this can then be used to buy supplies and even more dogs to keep yours company.
