For some time now, any games based on The Simpsons have either been very good (The Simpsons: The Arcade Game) or absolutely awful (The Simpsons Wrestling). The Simpsons Game falls somewhere in between the two, as it’s too short and has a crap camera - although it does look excellent, and the writing is very similar to that of the show itself.
Most versions are third-person actioners, where the family discover that they are forced to take part in another Simpsons game and poke fun at other video games. However, the DS release has some differences - it’s a sidescrolling platformer, there are less cutscenes, and some of the character’s powers have been removed.
The Game Collection have the DS version for £9.95 (click here), or ShopTo are selling the PSP release for £9.99 (click here).

Cars is a game based on the film of the same name, except that this is technically a sequel as it takes place after the events of the movie. The story sees Lightning McQueen preparing for and racing in the 2006 Piston Cup season.
Five chapters allow you to race against many of the other characters that you know and love from the hit Disney/Pixar film. Kids will especially enjoy this.

Even though the 1989 arcade game of the same name is much better, TMNT: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has still managed to sell just over a million copies. Proof positive that people will buy any old tat, I think you’ll agree.
This is based on the 2007 CGI movie TMNT (which was fairly average), and is a fairly run-of-the-mill platform title. Kids may get some enjoyment out of it however, as well as Turtles fans.

Phew, that’s a lot of cheap games!
The World Series Of Poker: Tournament Of Champions game is based on the popular gambling tournament World Series Of Poker. This is obviously much cheaper than the real-life equivalent!
If you already like poker then this a bit of a no-brainer, but if you don’t even know how to play it (which I must confess that I don’t, for shame) then you may choose to give it a miss.

MediEvil: Resurrection is based on the same story as the very first MediEvil game - except that this PSP version has different level layouts, new characters, and new mini-games.
You play as Sir Daniel Fortesque - a coward who died in battle, but was proclaimed a hero. Zarok (who was the leader of the dark enemy who killed Sir Dan) has returned after one hundred years, and has unknowingly resurrected our player who mus prove once and for all that he really is a hero.

When you have a handheld console, one thing is a given - puzzle games will be plentiful, but many will be crap. Gladly then, Every Extend Extra falls into the "good" category.
This unique "puzzle shooter" (from the team behind Lumines) sees you evading attacks and then using perfect timing to blast foes into a colourful display of explosive chain reactions.
If you fancy this PSP game, click here to get it for just £4.99 from The Game Collection.

The classic and entertaining Everybody’s Golf finally has a sequel - the imaginatively titled Everybody’s Golf 2. With new characters, beautiful courses, and loads of customisable options this is head and shoulders above the original.
Another great new addition is the ability to play against other golfers across the globe. You might be expecting to be able to compete against a handful, but you can actually take on up to 15 different folk!
Pop in to your local WH Smith and you should be able to pick this up for £9.99 - you may also be able to get it in Blockbuster stores for the same price.
Darts, darts, glorious darts - the fat man’s sport of choice (not that there’s anything wrong with that). It’s almost as though the Wii was designed with games like PDC World Championship Darts 2008 in mind.
Choose from 16 different players to compete in seven of the major PDC tournaments, or just beat your friends in the multiplayer mode.
To get the Wii version for £14.54 (as long as you spend £15 or more, otherwise it’s £16.53 delivered) from Amazon, simply click here. Amazon also have the XBox 360 (click here) and PSP (click here) releases available for £17.99 each.

The Sims games are great, because they make you feel as though you are some sort of God who can control people and make them do as you wish. I often wonder what it would be like to do that in real life. Yes, I realise I probably need help.
The Sims 2 is the sequel (you’d never have guessed it) to the massively popular original. This is the first time the series has appeared on the PSP, and it arrives with a huge variety of stuff to do.
Asda are selling this for £7.93 - for more information, click here.
If you’re a Dragon Ball Z fan and a PSP owner, then you’ll probably be interested in Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai. Not only can you battle the console, but you can also take on your friends over the wireless network.
With a choice of over 18 different characters to choose from and a total of seven game modes, you’re sure to get a fair amount of replay value out of this as well.
