FIFA 08 is the first time for ages that E.A. have got a football game near-enough dead on.

This is as good as Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 (which is great itself), and is well worth getting.

Asda are selling this game for a decent price on pretty much every console – click here to get the DS version, click here to buy the PlayStation 2 one or click here to buy the PSP release (each are £12.93). The other console versions are £17.93 (click here for the PlayStation 3, click here for the Wii and click here for the XBox 360).

Quite unsual that a retailer would have a cheap game on every system, but who’s complaining?!?

The Crusty Demons are a gang of bikers who tour the world performing outrageous bike stunts and participating in all manner of crazy skits with motorized vehicles.

During an attempt to perform a world-record-breaking 5-rider triple backflip, they are interrupted mid-flight by the Devil who informs them that, unfortunately, they are all about to die. The Devil offers them immortality – the ability to crash time and time again and still live to get up and walk away – and tricks the gang into signing over their souls. In order to win their souls back, the Crustys must win the "damnation game," completing a giant checklist of devilish tasks in order to entertain the Devil. This checklist will take them across the world to cause mayhem from New York to Tokyo.

The Guitar Hero series is such a simple idea, and yet it works so well – push buttons in time to your favourite rock tunes.

Guitar Hero III: Legends Of Rock is the latest game and includes songs from such artists as Guns ‘N Roses, Metallica and The Kaiser Chiefs.

Click here to buy the PlayStation 2 release (minus the guitar) for £17.99 from Play.com – if you’re interested in any of other Guitar Hero games, take a look here (I believe Guitar Hero II has gone since that post was made).

Mercury Meltdown Remix £4.99

For players that may not know how to play Mercury Meltdown, the concept is easy to grasp but tricky to master. Players will start in one Laboratory, and will unlock others as they progress through the various levels that comprise that stage of the game. Taking control of a blob of mercury, you’ll be forced to navigate levels with an assortment of traps, pitfalls and other hazards, which can strip sections of mercury away from the main blob. A gauge on the left side of the screen indicates how much mercury remains on a level at any point in time, and there’s a line indicator that lets you know how much mercury you have to keep so you can activate pressure plates, switches and other objects in the world. There’s a time crunch on completing the puzzles within each level as well: A countdown timer lets you know what the average time is to finish a stage. If you manage to reach the finishing zone in time, you receive a happy face within the timer; if you take too long, an angry face takes its place.

ShopTo have PS2 title Mercury Meltdown Remix available for only £4.99 – click here for more details on how to buy this game.

After word spreads of Ratchet and Clank’s recent conquest in Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando, Clank finds himself recognized as an interstellar robot of mystery and intrigue after starring in his own television series, Secret Agent Clank. While Ratchet is dismayed by his new sidekick status, the feelings are put aside when the twosome is called together by the Galactic President to bring peace to the universe. They find themselves traveling back to Planet Veldin to battle Dr. Nefarious, a robotic supervillain who has devised a diabolical scheme to wipe out all organic life in the galaxy. To reach his goal, he has instructed the Tyhrranoids, a race of multi-eye aliens to annihilate the organics, not knowing that if the Tyhrranoids are successful, they will end up causing their own extinction.

To fight back, Ratchet and Clank are able to recruit Captain Qwark, a favorite from previous games, out of retirement to lead the Q-Force, an unlikely band of heroic space cadets comprised of some of the most memorable characters from the Ratchet & Clank franchise. This includes Helga, the robotic seductress; Big Al, a techno-geek with the ability to encrypt technology systems; and Skid McMarx, a former hoverboarding champ and pro slacker turned spy. Together with the Q-Force, Ratchet and Clank set off on another hilarious interstellar romp to uncover the schemes of the sinister Dr. Nefarious and keep the galaxy safe for organic life.

With an engine making the most of the PlayStation 2 hardware, players are treated to beautifully designed environments, rich in visual flair and atmosphere. Featuring diverse locations such as ruined fortresses, mountain passes shrouded in mist and labyrinthine temple interiors, there’s plenty to explore. Within those impressive locations, stylish characterisation abounds with imaginative designs for both allies and enemies as suitably moody protagonists taking on superbly detailed and creepy opponents. Full localisation is also implemented, with professional voice actors providing dialogue painstakingly translated from the original Japanese. Vocals aside, there’s an array of suitably dynamic sound effects to complement the action.

Players take the role of Lei Yun, a supremely talented apprentice on a long and challenging mission against dark forces seeking control of the land. Previously defeated by Lei Yun’s master, this pervasive menace returns in the form of the Gyakki, a race of powerful demons under the control of a tyrannical Empress. Hell-bent on bringing death and destruction to the nation, only Lei Yun stands in the way of a seemingly unstoppable army of evil.

Utilising the three magical swords handed to him by his fallen master, as well as weapons dropped by the demons he defeats, Lei Yun must battle his way through level upon level populated by all manner of demonic opponents. The three main swords give the player new abilities when equipped. Enemy sword types appear according to how opponents are dispatched and each weapon has its own unique properties and statistics.
