Even though you can now get a PlayStation 3, there’s still a huge variety of top-notch PS2 titles available. With Sony stupidly removing backwards compatibility from the PS3, you have to get a PlayStation 2 console to be able to play these great games (you can even play PS1 titles on it as well).
If you’re interested in getting one, you may want to check out your local Toys R Us store as they are running a couple of decent deals.
For £49.99 you can get a PlayStation 2 with either The Simpsons Game or Buzz! Junior: Monster Rumble (which includes four buzzers) - both of which are decent.
One of the greatest ideas for a game in recent years has to have been Guitar Hero - OK it’s nothing like playing a real guitar, but it makes you feel like you are. Sort of.
Guitar Hero III is the latest in the series, and the very first to appear on the PlayStation 3 and Wii. With some great tunes to play along to, it may very well be the best of the bunch as well.
Amazon have the various different console versions available for good prices - click here to get the PS2 release for £29.97, or click here for the Wii version (which is £39.97). The PS3 (click here) and XBox 360 (click here) releases are slightly more expensive, coming in at £44.97 each.

Some of the best fun you can have is smashing your car into another one. Not in real life, of course, but in the Burnout series - with slow-motion replays from every angle, they really do look fantastic.
Burnout: Dominator takes what’s been right with every title in the series up to this point (getting rid of the annoying Crash mode in later games) and takes it to the next level. Great fun.

Titles like those in the NBA Live series never really change that much over time. Generally, you’ll get an updated roster and maybe one or two new features. If it ain’t broken, why fix it - right?
Well NBA Live 08 is pretty much what you’d expect. A newly updated roster is present and correct - however, you also get brand-new national teams to control and all-new NBA challenges from the 2006-2007 season.
SoftUK have this PlayStation 2 title priced at just £7.99 - for more information, click here.

NASCAR isn’t all that popular in this country, but for those that do enjoy it NASCAR 08 will be a game they will enjoy. Get ready to take the wheel of the new car and drive your way to the NEXTEL Cup championship!
An all-new career mode and the ability to test and tune your car until you are 100% satisfied with it makes for one heck of a driving experience.

PlayStation 3 owners might be interested to know that NASCAR 08 is currently available for £16.39. It’s not one of the better titles on the console, but it’s a good price.
If answering lots of questions is your thing, then Buzz! The Hollywood Quiz (with four buzzers) could be just the game for you. With over 5,000 questions on the world of celebrities and films, it’s sure to take you some time to go through the whole lot!
This PlayStation 2 title is great in that you can re-use the buzzers with any of the other Buzz games, and I think (don’t quote me) that you can use them with the PS3 as well.

This game is so incredibly cheap that it’s almost like they’re giving it away. There’s nothing wrong with Telly Addicts either, except for the sinister presence of a virtual Noel Edmonds - more terrifying than the real thing!
This is based on the old BBC show of the same name, and is quite simple. All that you do is answer questions about TV programmes and win money. Of course, the money isn’t real - it’s the taking part that makes it fun. Possibly.
Click here to get this PS2 game for the frankly crackers price of only £1.99 from The Game Collection.

Big hair bands were all the rage in the 80s, so if you were (or still are) a fan then Guitar Hero: Rocks The 80s could be just the game for you. Leather pants not included.
To make the most out of this title, I’d strongly advise getting the guitar accessory as it adds a whole new dimension to the game. Indeed, if you don’t already have one you can currently pick up Guitar Hero III: Legends Of Rock (with a wireless guitar) for £44.71 from Tesco.
Instore at HMV you can currently buy this PlayStation 2 title for £13.99.

How much do I love Guitar Hero, let me count the ways… I’m not going to do that, as I’d be here all day (and I’d bore you half to death in the process) - what I will say that it’s one of the best series of games in quite some time.
The basic premise behind the game is to strum along in time to the music, just as you would with a real guitar - except that this one doesn’t have strings, but buttons instead.
Guitar Hero III: Legends Of Rock is the latest in the series (well technically Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is, but hey ho!) and is available for £44.71 instore at Tesco. The good news is that it comes with a wireless guitar, the better news is that this price is valid for all console releases (PlayStation 3, XBox 360 and Wii).
UPDATE: The PlayStation 2 version is also available for the same price.

You might think that by criticising such movie tie-in games as Iron Man and Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer, I automatically dismiss all of them as being rubbish - not true, as the Godfather and Scarface titles are pretty good.
However, Ratatouille is another very average entry in the history of the genre. The one thing it does have going for it though is that kids will love it. Hooray!
SoftUK are selling this PS2 title for £7.49 - for more information, click here.
