When the Wii console was first introduced back in 2006, the white version was the only option, and such a hugely popular console didn't require any variations. Although other colours were introduced as Limited Editions, only the black Wii was retained as a permanent feature. For the brand new Wii-U console, currently 2 colours are available, with slightly different specifications. The standard edition is the White Wii-U which comes with 8Gb capacity. This is also known as the basic Wii-U.

The new Wii-U is likely to be extremely popular with possible stock shortages. When this happens there are unlikely to be many price cuts from the major suppliers, but with such a huge potential market to capture, there should be some price matching or free Wii-U games on offer from the likes of Tesco and Amazon.

As well as the Wii-U console, the White Wii-U package also contains an HDMI cable, and the fantastic new controller, the Wii-U Gamepad. featuring all the necessary controls as well as the 6.2 inch touchscreen, allowing for dual screen to be used for ceratin games. Previous controllers for the Wii can also be used in the Wii-U such as the Nunchuk and the Wii Remote Plus, although any controllers any Wii predecessors will not work.

The basic White Wii-U is now available from most popular gaming stores, online stores and supermarkets, with initial indications showing a price near the £250 mark to be a likely benchmark. Naturally the price aggressive retailers will be amongst the lowest prices so keep an eye out for the Tesco Wii-U Price, as they are nearly always amongst the cheapest. Amazon.co.uk also regularly price match their main competitors, so you should always get a decent price from them.
