When PES 2008 (Pro Evolution Soccer to everyone else) was announced for the Wii, I think most people were expecting some sort of ridiculous control system. Instead you get one that’s difficult to master, but addictive to learn.

Off-the-ball runs are even easier with this version of the game thanks to this control scheme and, as it’s on the Wii, you can also add your Mii’s to your team as well (why you’d want to do this, I have no idea). With FIFA 08 snapping at its heels, Pro Evolution is still the best footy game around…for now!

Darts is a funny old game - it’s incredibly popular, but yet still seems to only get played professionally by fat blokes. Very odd.

Anyway, PDC World Championship Darts 2008 lets you play from the comfort of your own room. Yes you could get a real darts set, but the potential to injure someone is quite high - especially if you’re a bit crap!

Naruto: Clash Of Ninja Revolution takes full advantage of the Wii’s unique controls, as you need to use both the Wii Remote and Wii Nunchuk in order to play it.

Sadly, it’s an incredibly average game - in much the same mould as Bleach: Shattered Blade (which is still available as part of the Asda mini sale), it’s simply uninspiring and overly complicated to play.

Don King Presents: Prizefighter £24.49

One of the best bits of Wii Sports has to be the boxing. Apart from this though, there’s no other decent boxing games available for the Wii - Don King Presents: Prizefighter looks like it might be the one to fill that hole.

31 current and legendary champions (including Joe Calzaghe) are involved at various intervals - however it’s the career mode which seems most interesting, with a unique documentary telling your story as you progress.

ShopTo have this up for preorder for £24.49 - click here for more details.

The Lego Star Wars games were so popular that hopes were high some of the other big-screen hits would get the same treatment. Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures is the first of two new Lego titles this year - the other being Lego Batman!

Play through all of the first three scenes, with comical interpretations of classic scenes and elements. Along the way you can unlock more than 60 different playable characters, which can then be mixed and matched to create new heroes (just like in Lego Star Wars).

Gameplay are selling this title on the PlayStation 3, Wii and XBox 360 for £29.99 each. If you spend over £30 though, you can get £5 off (just buy this gift wrap to take you over the threshold) by entering the voucher code gugheq6xe.

Therefore click here to get the PlayStation 3 version, click here for the Wii release or click here to buy the XBox 360 version - all for £25.98 each from Gameplay (when using the voucher code doo-dah above).

I can’t stand companies who rush shoddy games out so that they can get them on the shelves in time for big film releases. The stupid thing is that people buy them - why? 9 times out of 10 it will be a complete joke (look at The Golden Compass, for example)!

This brings me nicely to Iron Man. The film is not too bad, but the game is a big pile of crap! With graphics that would make early PlayStation 2 games look advanced, it’s really a big mess. Only fans and mentalists should even consider a purchase.

Click here to get the Wii version for £16.97, click here to buy the PSP release for £16.97, click here to get the PlayStation 3 version for £22.97, or click here to buy the XBox 360 release for £22.97 - all from the lovely chaps at Tesco.

Fishing Master £18.99

The Wii seems tailor made for certain types of games, and fishing is one of the obvious ones. Sadly, you end up looking like a plonker to everyone who sees you - but who cares as the "sport" has never been more fun (or dry!) as this.

Fishing Master brings arcade-style fishing to the console and has over 100 different kinds of fish to catch. To become the master of the fishing world, compete in over 30 competitions - once you’ve done that, battle three friends in the head-to-head fishing derby mode (there’s no online multiplayer, annoyingly).

One of the best ideas Nintendo ever came up with was Super Smash Brothers. Can you honestly think of anything better than fighting some of your favourite characters - the joy of pummeling Pikachu alone makes a purchase worthwhile.

Super Smash Brothers: Brawl is the first time the series has appeared on the Wii, and what a debut it is. With new characters (I won’t spil it by telling you who, but let’s just say cardboard boxes and sneakers are involved), new levels to fight on and the ability to battle online this is the best one yet.

This game is out in a couple of weeks, and Gameplay have it up for preorder priced at £29.99.

However, if you spend £30 or more (buy this gift wrap for 99p to take you over the limit) and enter the voucher code gugheq6xe at the checkout you get £5 off - click here then, to get this for a total of £25.98 (which I guarantee you is the cheapest price you will find anywhere).

Samurai Warriors: Katana is based on the popular Samurai Warriors series, and gives you the ability to wield your Wii Remote like a katana. Sounds like my kind of fun!

The reviews for this game haven’t been too kind - sloppy, not very good and a new low don’t exactly make it sound appealing. Still if you’ve always wanted to kill folk with swords, but didn’t want the prison time, this could be ideal.

Click here to buy this for £12.99 from SoftUK.

The Need For Speed series is notorious for being incredibly average. Need For Speed: Prostreet is much better than most of the other titles in the series, but it’s still far from being the perfect racing game.

Compete around the world to prove that you have what it takes to be the king of the road, but sadly there’s no ability to compete online. Boo!

Click here to buy the PlayStation 2 version for £4.96 (as long as you spend £15 or more, otherwise it’s £6.95 delivered) from Amazon, click here to get the PSP release for £20.99 delivered from Gamestation, click here to bag the Wii version for £19.99 from CD-WOW, or click here to buy the XBox 360 release for £14.97 from Amazon.

Phew!
