Mario Kart has been a staple on every Nintendo console since it first appeared way back in 1992 with Super Mario Kart on the SNES. Mario Kart Wii is the newest title in the series, and is also the first console version (excluding the DS handheld game Mario Kart DS) to feature online multiplayer racing goodness.

Up to 12 people can compete online and you’re not only restricted to karts any more, as motorbikes are now selectable vehicles. 26 characters and 12 tracks mean that I doubt you’ll get bored of this quickly, especially if you get friends round (or online!).

To buy Mario Kart Wii (with 2 Wii Wheels instead of the regular 1) for £32.99 from ShopTo, simply click here.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed helps to bridge the gap between Episodes III and IV somewhat, by showing a little of what Darth Vader did. And here was me thinking that he might have gone on holiday to Spain or something.

You play as his "secret apprentice" and uncover some interesting things about the Star Wars galaxy, none of which I’ll tell you here because I ain’t no party pooper. Let’s just say you’ll be a bit surprised.

Instore at Toys R Us you can pick up the Wii version for £24.78. Xbox 360 owners can click here to visit Sendit.com and get their version for the slightly higher price of £29.96.

Wii Console Offers

The nearer we get to Christmas, the more convinced I get that there will be a mass panic over the Wii with stores having no stock - it’s happened before, it will happen again (wasn’t that a line from a film?).

There’s a range of good deals around at the moment, so it’s no surprise to see a couple of new Wii console offers appear. Remember that with every purchase you get a Wii Remote and a copy of Wii Sports included in the box.

Click here to buy the system with a copy of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed for £179.98 from Amazon, or pop into a Toys R Us to get it with a Star Wars pack (which contains a copy of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back on DVD, and a Star Wars: Episode III lightsaber) for £189.99.

Top Spin 3 £19.99

With 20 different world-class players to choose from, and 40 different venues to play on, Top Spin 3 is probably the best tennis title available at this moment.

The PlayStation 3 and XBox 360 versions feature a career mode and online multiplayer, but for some reason these have both been removed from the Wii release.

If you fancy the Wii version, click here to get it for £19.99 from ShopTo. Alternatively, click here for the PS3 release or click here for the XBox 360 version - these too are £19.99 at ShopTo. Cheap games like this are recommended for fans of the sport and people who like multiplayer fun, which I suppose is pretty much everybody.

The Pro Evolution Soccer series has for a long time provided the best football games that money can buy. However with FIFA 08 E.A. have finally made some excellent improvements, meaning that at long last we actually have a choice of two very good titles.

PES 2008 (Pro Evolution Soccer) doesn’t actually have that many things different than the previous one, although the graphics are slightly improved and the controls feel a bit tighter.

Click here to get the DS version for £14.99 from SoftUK, or pop into your nearest HMV and buy the Wii release for £15. PlayStation 3 owners can get their version for £17.99 as part of the Game bargains at, erm, Game!

There’s not many decent games that make use of the Wii Zapper, but The House Of The Dead: 2 & 3 Return is right up there as one of the best. Can you imagine anything better than blasting a zombie’s head off from close range? Exactly!

Not only do you get accurate arcade versions of the two titles, there’s also a new "extreme" mode which has tougher enemies and a smaller blast radius on the shotgun.

If you fancy this Wii game , click here to buy it for £11.89 from Sendit.com. Cheap games like this come recommended if you like arcade shooters, light gun games, or shooting the shit out of zombies.

WH Smith Console Deals

There’s a couple of decent WH Smith console deals available instore that I thought I’d let you know about. First up we have the ever-dependable Nintendo DS Lite.

With a brilliant catalogue of games, and the ability to play your old GameBoy Advance titles, this is probably the best handheld system ever made.

In exchange for one penny shy of £100 (£99.99) you can get any colour of console plus copies of Imagine: Pet Vet and Sega Superstars Tennis.

Next up it’s the system that everyone and his mother either already has, or will be manically trying to get at Christmas, the Nintendo Wii.

With a unique control scheme that sets it apart from any others on the market, the Wii gives a truly innovative way to play games. Every console comes with a Wii Remote and a copy of Wii Sports.

WH Smith have this with Big Beach Sports and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 for £179.99
