One of the best ideas for a game has to have been the Guitar Hero series - it’s absolutely nothing like playing the real thing, but it’s still incredibly fun. Guitar Hero III: Legends Of Rock is the newest title available.
With a whole host of great tracks to play along to (from artists like Guns ‘N Roses, Metallica, the Rolling Stones and the Sex Pistols) and a better designed guitar, this is possibly the best of the titles released so far.
Click here to get the PS3 release of Guitar Hero III: Legends Of Rock, with a wireless guitar, for £44.99 from HMV.
Cheap games like this are easy to recommend, as they can be enjoyed by anyone - even if you’re completely tone deaf!
Do you like dirtbikes? Do you like monster trucks? If the answer to either (or both) of these questions is yes, then you’ll probably enjoy MX Vs ATV: Untamed - these are what you race on it.
There’s many competitions to compete in and a bunch of mini-games thrown in as well, however the big selling point is that the PlayStation 3 version has an online multiplayer mode which can cater for up to 12 players at a time!

The 2K series of basketball games have been quite popular, and NBA 2K8 continues this trend by featuring re-designed players, new commentary and a brand-new Game Wrap-Up feature (where you choose the kind of post game show you want to see).
Also new is the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest where you compete against the best dunkers around - it’s also playable online, so you can prove that you’re the greatest dunker there is.
Amazon have reduced this PlayStation 3 title to the bargain price of £19.99 - for more information, click here.

For too long now the FIFA games have been miles behind the Pro Evolution series in terms of greatness - thank the Lord then that FIFA 08 bridges the gap quite a bit.
Although it’s still not 100% perfect, the improved controls and graphics (as well as the very good online multiplayer) make this the best FIFA title for some time.
Instore at Tesco you can pick up either the XBox 360 or PlayStation 3 version for £15 each.
The Lego Star Wars games were so popular that hopes were high some of the other big-screen hits would get the same treatment. Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures is the first of two new Lego titles this year - the other being Lego Batman!
Play through all of the first three scenes, with comical interpretations of classic scenes and elements. Along the way you can unlock more than 60 different playable characters, which can then be mixed and matched to create new heroes (just like in Lego Star Wars).
Gameplay are selling this title on the PlayStation 3, Wii and XBox 360 for £29.99 each. If you spend over £30 though, you can get £5 off (just buy this gift wrap to take you over the threshold) by entering the voucher code gugheq6xe.
Therefore click here to get the PlayStation 3 version, click here for the Wii release or click here to buy the XBox 360 version - all for £25.98 each from Gameplay (when using the voucher code doo-dah above).

I can’t stand companies who rush shoddy games out so that they can get them on the shelves in time for big film releases. The stupid thing is that people buy them - why? 9 times out of 10 it will be a complete joke (look at The Golden Compass, for example)!
This brings me nicely to Iron Man. The film is not too bad, but the game is a big pile of crap! With graphics that would make early PlayStation 2 games look advanced, it’s really a big mess. Only fans and mentalists should even consider a purchase.
Click here to get the Wii version for £16.97, click here to buy the PSP release for £16.97, click here to get the PlayStation 3 version for £22.97, or click here to buy the XBox 360 release for £22.97 - all from the lovely chaps at Tesco.

Ninja Gaiden was a very good game for the original XBox - the sequel, Ninja Gaiden: Sigma, is nowhere near as good as its predecessor. It was a launch title for the PlayStation 3, so I suppose that’s some sort of excuse. Kind of.
I must admit that the graphics are a big step up though, and it’s a bit harder to complete than the first game, but it still doesn’t match up to the heights of Ninja Gaiden.
If you fancy this, after considering what I’ve said, click here to buy it for £16.97 from Tesco.
It’s quite rare that a title appeals to both the younger and older gamer, but Ratchet & Clank: Tools Of Destruction does exactly this. With the power of the PlayStation 3 behind it, this is the best Ratchet & Clank game yet.
This time out our two friends must go on a galactic adventure to unravel the mystery of Ratchet’s origin. Along the way you’ll meet new characters, try out new weapons and explore brand-new worlds.

Poker can be an expensive game if you don’t watch what you’re doing. Listen to me being the moral guardian - I actually don’t care if people spend money on poker, you only live once (or maybe twice, who knows)!
World Series Of Poker 2008: Battle For The Bracelets does exactly what it says on the tin and provides a fairly realistic game of poker. Climb your way up the ranks in your quest to win the championship bracelet.

In most games with the option, you can choose whether to play a solo mission or a two-player variation - in Army Of Two you have no choice but to work with a partner. I’d highly suggest getting a friend to play, as the computer is fairly crap.
If it’s not enough for you to defeat a whole heap of baddies, take it online and battle against other teams of players from all over the world via the wireless network.
