Rock Band: The Beatles is the latest entry in the Rock Band series and, like every other game in the series, it lets you simulate the playing of rock music by using controllers shaped like musical instruments. 45 songs from The Beatles career are available to play along to, with additional songs and albums appearing in the future as downloadable content.

Inside the Rock Band: The Beatles – Value Edition pack you'll find everything you need to get started. There's a copy of the game itself, plus the original drums, microphone and guitar from the "Rock Band: Band in a Box" bundle.

HMV have the Wii release available for £49.99 – for more information, click here. PlayStation 3 owners can click here to get their version for the same price from the same retailer, or XBox 360 gamers can click here to get theirs for £75 from Tesco.

Those new to the world of Metal Gear might like to know that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is a stealth action game which is exclusive to the PlayStation 3. It's the seventh in the series, and also the first to appear on a fourth-generation console.

A third-person view with full camera manipulation is used, but you also have the freedom to switch to either a first-person mode or an over-the-shoulder view. Elements from previous entries in the saga return in modified forms, and Snake has a robotic drone which allows communication and can even incapacitate enemies with a weak electric shock.

Also included is Metal Gear Online which features 16 player online stealth battles that encourage you to engage heavily in teamwork.

E.A. must have been expecting big things for Dead Space, as not only was a comic book series created but there's also a prequel animated movie titled "Dead Space: Downfall" available as well.

All this is justified though, as the game itself is absolutely brilliant. A fantastic and gripping script, along with some genuine heart-in-the-mouth moments, makes for one of the scariest experiences you'll have this year.

Bayonetta is an action game directed by the creator of Devil May Cry and Viewtiful Joe. Set in a fictional city in Europe, the game centres on its eponymous character who uses pistols and magical attacks in order to defeat a wide variety of different enemies.

Normally reviews are about as important as a handful of sand from the sea, but this has received full marks from both Famitsu and Edge – two magazines which very infrequently give out top rankings (the latter has only done it ten times in its sixteen year history).

If you fancy the XBox 360 release, click here to buy it for £17.99 from Zavvi. PlayStation 3 owners can click here to buy their version for the same price from the same retailer.

Army of Two: The 40th Day is a first-person shooter and is the sequel to Army of Two (unsurprisingly). It again focuses on two player co-operative play, employing a cover system, but you can still get involved on your lonesome with the computer acting as your partner.

Tyson Rios and Elliot Salem are combatant partners who, with the assistance of their handler Alice Murray, must fight to survive and prevail over invading forces that have engulfed Shanghai in a devastating terrorist attack.

Though previously only available on PlayStation consoles, the latest installment in the Tekken series is now also playable on the XBox 360 – with Tekken 6 bringing a whole host of new features (including online multiplayer) to an already excellent fighting franchise.

This Tekken 6 Arcade Stick Bundle not only contains a copy of the game, but also a 100-page artbook produced by the development team and an exclusive wireless arcade stick – the closest you'll probably get in this country to recreating the way it was originally meant to be played.

If you fancy the 360 release, click here to buy it for £66.99 from CoolShop. PlayStation 3 owners can click here to buy their version for £74.99 from Amazon.

If there's a reason to get a copy of The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, it's that it also contains The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay – which is both one of the best titles ever made on the original XBox and the prequel to this brand-new Vin Diesel-starring first-person action game.

You take on the role of Riddick (from The Chronicles of Riddick and Pitch Black movies) and must use stealth and action to overcome the merciless crew of the predatory Merc-ship Dark Athena – cheating death through a series of spectacular battles and events, Riddick fights for his life amid a storm of malevolence and horror…

Game are selling the XBox 360 release for £8.99 – click here for more details. PlayStation 3 owners can click here to buy their version for £9.89 from Simply Games.

Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time is the final entry in the "Future" trilogy, and is strongly rumored to the last Ratchet and Clank game ever to be produced – which would be sad news if it turns out to be true, as the series has been mostly excellent since it began in 2002.

While this is certainly one of the best titles of the franchise, there's not a whole lot of new innovations. However, this isn't necessarily a bad thing, because it's still a quality platformer with a superb combat system and decent puzzles (not to mention some lovely graphics as well).

After the massive success of Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures, it was inevitable that a sequel would make an appearance at some point – which means the arrival of Lego Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues shouldn't be that much of a surprise.

Not only can now play through areas from Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, but the first three original (and much better!) movies too. The gameplay is much the same as before, so nothing too challenging – which means younger gamers can join in the fun too.

HMV are selling this PSP title for £14.99 – click here for more details. The same retailer also has the PlayStation 3 (click here), Wii (click here) and XBox 360 (click here) versions at the slightly higher price of £17.99 each.

Without a shadow of a doubt, Batman: Arkham Asylum is the best superhero game that has ever been made – that is, until Batman: Arkham Asylum 2 is released and blows it out of the water (here's hoping!). Easily a contender for game of 2009, this is an essential addition to anyone's collection.

The Batman: Arkham Asylum – Collector's Edition set contains a copy of the game, along with some additional bonus goodies. These include a 14" Batarang with stand, a "behind the scenes" DVD, 48 pages of notes on Arkham's inmates, and a code to download the exclusive "Crime Alley" map.
