Even though Gran Turismo 5: Prologue is basically only a sample of what Gran Turismo 5 promises to deliver when it’s finally released, there’s enough in it to make it one of the best racers on the PS3 – which means the full game should be nothing short of amazing.

It’s interesting to note that this is being updated all the time with new tracks and cars, as well as brand new features never before seen in the long-running series. Up to 16 cars can race simultaneously now too, which makes for brilliant races.

There’s no doubt that the success of attaching Tom Clancy’s name to games has alerted other film writers to the possibilities that the video game world presents – sadly horror legend Clive Barker will forever be associated with the stinker that is Clive Barker’s Jericho.

Some poor AI, where your teammates end up dead on a fairly regular basis, and broken gameplay mechanics let it down badly. If you’re a horror fan you’ll get more out of the game, but for everyone else it’s probably worth giving a miss.

Many of the online retailers have sales that are in full swing now – the HMV January games Sale, which has big reductions across a few platforms, is one of the bigger ones (even though there are comparatively fewer bargains to be had in it).

Burnout Paradise is a racing game with an open-world setting in the fictional Paradise City, and has no loading times, traditional online lobbies, or game menus. Guns N’ Roses song "Paradise City" is rather aptly the theme music as well.

Instead of charging users for extra content, the makers of this title have decided to give it all away for free. There’s some pretty decent stuff too – bonus cars and extra tracks are nice, but the inclusion of some motorbikes to race on is excellent.

You don’t even have to particularly like the songs that you play along to, but once you get into the swing of things you’ll never know how you lived without this in your life – seriously, expect arguments aplenty over whose turn it is next.

The amazing success of Skate seemed to catch everyone off-guard, including the company that produced the game. Sales have been almost double that of Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground, which goes to show that there very well could be a new king in town…

You control a custom-designed skateboarder in the fictional town of San Vanelona, and take part in various challenges and events that are to be found around the city. Instead of pushing buttons, this game gives a more realistic feel by having you use the analog sticks to launch all kinds of different stunts.
