Beowulf: The Game From £8.08

If you’re a fan of hack and slash games like Viking: Battle For Asgard, then Beowulf: The Game may be right up your street. I should probably warn you that it’s incredibly average, but as it’s based on an average film then this shouldn’t really be surprising.

This lets you play through 30 years of Beowulf’s life not seen in the movie and the music is pretty good as well. Apart from this, as I said before, it’s very average.

Click here to buy this PlayStation 3 title for £8.08 (as long as you spend £15 or more, otherwise it’s £10.07) from Amazon.

Not content with bamboozling (I bet you haven’t heard that word for ages) consumers with different sizes of PlayStation 3, Sony have gone and announced another one – the PlayStation 3 80GB console is coming out on the 27th of August.

You also get a Dualshock 3 wireless controller as well, which is quite generous of them. A game would be nice, but it is Sony we’re talking about.

Click here to pre-order it for £289.97 from Tesco. Remember to enter the voucher code Freedel at the checkout to get free postage.

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 From £14.99

Hard to believe, but Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 is actually the ninth title in the long-running Rainbow Six series. This is apparently the last time they’ll be venturing into Vegas though.

Taking place after the events of the first game (with bits set before that as well, making this a quasi-prequel/sequel), you’ll be glad to know that the AI has been improved so that your teammates will cover each other as they advance. Interestingly, you can also create exactly what you want your character to look like.

Click here to get the PlayStation 3 release for £14.99, or click here to buy the XBox 360 version for £15.99 – both from CD-WOW.

Anyone yet to play the brilliant original can still get the PS3 version for £13.99 as part of the Zavvi reductions from t’other day.

Battlefield: Bad Company £27.98

Great, you’re thinking, yet another first-person shooter – but wait, for Battlefield: Bad Company is ruddy bloody good. Where else can you take part in a war between America and Russia? (I could make a joke about "in real life soon, if the Americans have their way", but that would be a bit sad. Oh…)

Around 90% of the game’s environment can be destroyed, which basically means that pretty much anything can be blown up. The area where this really excels though is multiplayer, where up to 24 players can shoot the crap out of each other at one time. Nice.

Game are selling the XBox 360 (click here) and PlayStation 3 (click here) releases for £29.99 each – but we can get it lower than that.

Simply add the title you would like to your basket, along with this wrapping (you need to spend over £30, and this takes the amount to £30.98), and enter the voucher code NW02GME1 to get £3 off. This means you get either game for a grand total of £27.98.

Viking: Battle For Asgard £17.99

If you enjoy hack and slash games, then you may very well like Viking: Battle For Asgard. Based on Norse Mythology, you play as Skarin (the Goddess Of War’s champion) and must lead Viking forces against the Goddess Hel’s own army.

Although the battles are epic in nature and the combat can be incredibly brutal, the story leaves a lot to be desired and it can get a little bit repetitive after a while.

If you fancy this PS3 title, click here to get it for £17.99 from Gameplay.

Condemned 2 From £17.79

Condemned 2 takes place 11 months after the events of Condemned: Criminal Origins. Ethan Thomas has turned into an alcoholic and is now homeless, until the FBI’s Serial Crime Unit step in and recruit him back to investigate a call for help from his old mentor Malcolm Vanhorn.

This is the first Condemned title to feature online multiplayer gameplay, with up to eight players taking part in either the Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Bum Rush or Crime Scenes mode.

Click here to get the XBox 360 version for £17.79 from Blah DVD, or click here to buy the PlayStation 3 release for £17.99 from Gameplay.

Colin McRae: DiRT £14.99

After the sad death of Colin McRae, it’s still up in the air whether Colin McRae: DiRT will be the last game in the hit series. If it is, then it’s a fitting way to end up – this is very probably the best one yet.

There’s three single player modes to work your way through – Career, Championship and Rally World (which is a single race). The multiplayer mode is slightly different from the norm, as you race up to 100 other players through solo competition with the fastest time determining the winner.

Click here to buy the PlayStation 3 version of this game for £14.99 from ShopTo.

Time Crisis 4 (With G-Con 3) £38.54

If you’ve ever played any of the Time Crisis games before, you’ll know what to expect from Time Crisis 4 – for everyone else, it’s an arcade shooter where you have to shoot a bunch of terrorists.

This is the first in the series to appear on the PlayStation 3, and is also the first to include a brand new first person shooter mode. Here you roam freely through five new stages.

Amazon are selling Time Crisis 4 (with the G-Con 3 lightgun included) for £38.54 – for more information, click here.

MX Vs ATV: Untamed gives you the option of competing on either motorbikes or monster trucks. My personal preference is the latter, as there’s nothing better than a truck on huge wheels. Except a bigger truck on bigger wheels, perhaps.

Once you’ve won all eight of the different Championship modes, take it online and beat your friends. Heck, beat your enemies while you’re at it as well.

If you fancy this PlayStation 3 game, click here to get it for £14.85 from Blah DVD.
