Cheap Games

R: Racing is a racing simulation game that features over 33 different licensed cars for you to drive, which can each be near-enough fully customised.

The single player mode is quite different from many other titles – you follow the career of Rena Hayami as she juggles the life of a professional driver with the politics of the sport. Through each chapter you can earn new cars, and points which can be used to buy new items.

Click here to get this PlayStation 2 game for £1.98 (as long as you spend £15 or more, otherwise it’s £3.97 delivered) from Amazon. This is one of those cheap games to pick up if you’re a fan of racing titles in general.

There’s something quite unusual about Ridge Racer DS – it’s based on a Nintendo 64 game (which is funnily enough called Ridge Racer 64). It’s been updated though, so no need to worry about whether it might look a bit shoddy.

It feels very similar to the original, with identical tracks, but includes a wireless multiplayer mode not found on the N64. Fun times abound when you can race up to five other players.

SoftUK are selling this title for £9.99 – for more information, click here.

Crash Bandicoot has never quite been as popular as Sonic or Mario, but there’s still a fair few games that star him. Three of them are contained in the Crash Bandicoot Action Pack.

This PlayStation 2 title provides great value for money, as you’re getting three games for under £10. They are Crash Nitro Kart, Crash Twinsanity and Crash Tag Team Racing – all of which are pretty decent.

If the Comet offers and Play.com reductions haven’t filled your appetite for cheap games, then perhaps these Simply Games offers will. Then again, perhaps they won’t!

Beowulf: The Game From £8.08

If you’re a fan of hack and slash games like Viking: Battle For Asgard, then Beowulf: The Game may be right up your street. I should probably warn you that it’s incredibly average, but as it’s based on an average film then this shouldn’t really be surprising.

This lets you play through 30 years of Beowulf’s life not seen in the movie and the music is pretty good as well. Apart from this, as I said before, it’s very average.

XBox 360 Elite (With Three Games) £259.99

Earlier on today we featured a range of XBox 360 Elite deals at Game, but here’s another one that may sway your decision towards getting one. How’s about three games for free?

Now would be a good time to get an XBox 360, as there’s some big games on the horizon. Fable II in particular looks great, although I’m sure that Too Human and Gears Of War 2 will be equally as good.

Anyway, back to the item at hand.

Gamestation are running an offer where you can choose three games (from a selection of Dead Or Alive 4, Halo 3, Lost Odyssey or Project Gotham Racing 4) to go along with your XBox 360 Elite for the princely sum of £259.99 – click here for more details.

Even though the 1989 arcade game of the same name is much better, TMNT: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has still managed to sell just over a million copies. Proof positive that people will buy any old tat, I think you’ll agree.

This is based on the 2007 CGI movie TMNT (which was fairly average), and is a fairly run-of-the-mill platform title. Kids may get some enjoyment out of it however, as well as Turtles fans.

Click here to get the PSP version for just £1.99 from Sendit.com, click here to buy the PlayStation 2 release for £4.93, or click here to get the Wii version for £11.93 – the latter two both being from Asda.

Phew, that’s a lot of cheap games!

Viking: Battle For Asgard is a very simple game to pick and play, as it’s a hack and slash type affair. These means exactly what it says, as you merely have to hack and slash away at any enemies.

The story is based on genuine Nordic Mythology, which makes for an interesting (and engaging) experience. It can get a little repetitive though, so is probably best played in small sessions.

Click here to buy the XBox 360 version of this game for £17.85 from Blah DVD. PlayStation 3 owners interested in Viking: Battle For Asgard may like to know that it can also be bought for the reasonable price of £17.99 from Gameplay.

War Of The Monsters £6.99

3D fighting games such as Rampage and Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee are obvious influences upon the makers of War Of The Monsters. This is ever so slightly better than both of them though.

The aftermath of an alien invasion of Earth has spawned giant monsters that battle it out across city environments, as you do. The game looks a bit like one of the old monster movies and homages are made to these, including characters that resemble Godzilla and King Kong.

If you fancy this PS2 title, click here to get it for £6.99 from SoftUK.
