When the original DS was released it was rightly regarded as one of the best handheld systems to come along in some time. Not only was it quite easy to use, but the possibilities for unique gaming experiences seems almost endless.
A small complaint was that it was rather chunky, so in 2006 the Nintendo DS Lite console was born. It's much slimmer and lighter than its predecessor, and the buttons have been moved around a bit to make it even easier to use than before.
Argos have the black coloured system available for £79.99 – for more information, click here.

Halo 3: ODST is an expansion pack for the first-person shooter Halo 3. Originally this was going to be an add-on for Halo 3, but developers Bungie have instead decided to make it a stand-alone title (which means you don't need to already own Halo 3 in order to play) – much to the irritation of gamers who believed that it would possibly be available as downloadable content.
Although bearing a strong resemblance to other entries in the Halo series, in this one you don't play as Master Chief – you are in control of a lone Orbital Drop Ship Trooper in the city of New Mombasa, East African Protectorate (formerly Kenya).

The Nintendo DSi is the third iteration of the Nintendo DS handheld, and comes with a range of new features not found in any of the other hardware releases. Key amongst these are the inclusion of two cameras and the removal of the GameBoy Advance slot on the back (which means that the Guitar Hero grip won't work with it, stupidly).
It's around 12% thinner than the DS Lite, but is slightly longer, and comes with an SD card slot which can be used to store pictures and download software. In a first for a Nintendo handheld system, the firmware is upgradeable – which means that any illegal flash cards will be made incompatible near enough straight away.
If you fancy a white Nintendo DSi console, click here to buy one for £129.99 from Argos.
Although it would help if you're a fan of the band, Guitar Hero: Aerosmith contains enough decent songs to play along with that this isn't something that is entirely necessary. Anyway, who can help but love such classics as "Walk This Way" and "Train Kept A-Rollin"?
It's interesting to see that many other groups have shown interest in getting involved with instrument video games – Guitar Hero: Metallica is out now, as too is Rock Band: The Beatles, and Van Halen have been lined up for a game of their own some time in 2010.

Meanwhile, over at ShopTo you can get the XBox 360 (click here) release for £9.95, or either the PlayStation 3 (click here) or Wii (click here) versions for £12.85 each. Any one of these cheap games would make an excellent addition to anyone's collection.
Today sees the one day Play.com Mega Monday clearance running, with some huge savings to be made across most major platforms.
Be quick though, as these will all be gone by the end of the 7th of Decemeber…

jOG: The Body Motion Controller is an add-on accessory for the Wii that gives you even more control than ever over characters on-screen – when you move, they move! One can only wonder what Nintendo developers will come up with next (my bet is a virtual stick that you can use to poke Vernon Kaye in the eye repeatedly).
Plugging straight in to your existing Wii Remote and Wii Nunchuk, this is compatible with many of the top titles on the console. This link shows you which cheap games it specifically works on – keep checking it, as more are added all the time.

One of the best games of the last few years has to be Gears Of War, so you can imagine the excitement that gamers had when a sequel was announced. At last, it's finally here…
Gears of War 2 takes everything up a notch, with a more expansive campaign mode and massive online multiplayer option being the two biggest improvements. The weaponry has also been boosted, which when combined helps make this one of the hottest titles of 2008.
Click here to buy the original XBox 360 game for £13.99 from HMV, or click here to buy the Gears of War 2: Game of the Year Edition (which comes with all of the downloadble content) for £15.99 from Gamestation.
If there's only one thing I can say about Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, it's that if you don't own a copy then you must be prepared to crawl across broken glass to get one – it's simply the best game made in quite some time. Even better than Sensible Soccer, if you can believe such a thing is possible!
An intense single player campaign would have been enough for most, but the inclusion of an online multiplayer mode which takes the very idea to new heights makes this unmissable. Even though the sequel has rightly been heralded as excellent, it's still well worth giving this a go…
Game have the PlayStation 3 version available for £19.99 – for more information, click here. XBox 360 owners can click here to get their release for the same price from the same retailer.
Although every other entry in the series has appeared on a Sony console, Star Ocean: The Last Hope is currently scheduled to only be released on the XBox 360. Apparently this is down to the fact that the 360 is easier to develop for – something which has been noted by one or two other companies previously.
This fifth installment features more of a science fiction emphasis than past titles, with the ability to control your own ship, and the battle system now includes four party members. Serving as a prequel, the events depicted take place a few centuries before Star Ocean in approximately the year 2097.
