Little Big Planet

Little Big Planet has been praised so much that you would think people were being paid to gush so much, but the reality is it’s genuinely one of the most innovative and fun games to have been released on any console in quite some time. Even the BBC seem to like it, and they don’t like anything halfway decent!

Not content with looking absolutely stunning in high definition, this is both challenging and silly at the same time. Controlling small avatars through a variety of platforming scenarios is good enough, until you realise how much more there is to this - from the ability to create huge new levels yourself, to trying out someone else’s via the online sharing capabilities.

Fable II

With so many excellent games being released, it’s difficult to find the time to play them all! It’s my opinion that you should make at least a little bit of room for Fable II though, as it’s easily one of the best role-playing games in the last couple of years.

Fans of the original will feel right at home, whilst newcomers shouldn’t be intimidated by the depth of scale. Special mention must go to the graphics (which are beautiful), and the brilliant online co-operative mode.

My Health Coach: Manage Your Weight (With Pedometer) is one of those cheap games that isn't actually a game!

Sometimes it seems as though the DS is more like a motivational tool than a games console, as there are a fair few titles to help improve your memory, etc. My Health Coach: Manage Your Weight is another one of these, except this helps you to lead a more healthy lifestyle.

Developed with a fitness coach and nutritionist, it aims to assist you in taking control of your weight efficiently and making you feel better. The included pedometer helps measure your real physical activity level and balance it, although you’ll need a fair amount of willpower ti continue!

Argos are selling My Health Coach: Manage Your Weight (with pedometer) for £14.99 - for more information, click here.

As the code keeps on changing so many times, I’m going to update this post whenever a new Game £3 off a £30 spend voucher appears.

Today’s new one is NWAWGME12 - and there seems to be a pattern forming, which changes every bloody time!

Click here to visit their website and see if anything takes your fancy.

UPDATE: Today sees another new code added. No idea how long this will last either, I’m afraid.

Beautiful Katamari

Beautiful Katamari is the fourth game in the Katamari series, and is notable for being originally planned for the PlayStation 3 until development was abandoned - making this the first to not appear on a Sony console.

In it you control a "katamari" to collect smaller objects, which in turn allows you to grow and collect even larger objects, as to meet various objectives given by the King Of All Cosmos. As well as a single player mode, there’s a competitive or co-operative multiplayer option than can be enjoyed either online or off.

Saints Row 2

The first Saints Row game was very good, but the sequel has improved to the point where it’s right up there with Grand Theft Auto in terms of fun. It’s also nice to see a game not take itself too seriously, as there’s no pretension just enjoyable mayhem.

Saints Row 2 picks up from where the first game left off, with you waking up from a trauma-induced coma in a prison hospital. Escaping the prison island, you learn that the Saints have fallen apart and that three new gangs have risen to power in Stilwater.

Argos have this PlayStation 3 title available for £19.99 - click here for more details. XBox 360 owners can also get their version for the same price from the same retailer by clicking here.

PlayStation 3 Console (With Two Games Plus A Blu-Ray Movie)

The great thing about the PlayStation 3 is that it not only has a growing catalogue of decent games, but can also play Blu-Ray films as well. When you consider that a stand-alone Blu-Ray player can cost a similar price to the console, it becomes an absolute no-brainer.

Some may say that the XBox 360 has many more great titles, both exclusive and multi-platform, and I would agree to an extent - but it has been out quite a bit longer, and at least Sony don’t charge you more to be able to watch high-def movies and get a wireless Internet connection!

Play.com have three different PlayStation 3 console (with two games plus a Blu-Ray movie) packages available for £299.99 each:

PlayStation 3 with copies of Grand Theft Auto IV and Little Big Planet, plus 300 on Blu-Ray

PlayStation 3 with copies of James Bond: Quantum Of Solace and Little Big Planet, plus Batman Begins on Blu-Ray

PlayStation 3 with copies of Little Big Planet and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, plus I Am Legend on Blu-Ray

Battle Of The Bands

Rhythm games like Guitar Hero and PaRappa The Rapper are two examples of how to do the genre well. Sadly, Battle Of The Bands is a good way to show how not to do it - even if it is a budget title.

Notes roll up from the bottom of the screen, and you must move the Wii Remote in time to these. Unfortunately it’s both far too easy and potentially painful (a strained wrist wouldn’t be surprising), although the track list is quite impressive.

Click here to get this Wii game for £4.99 from Play.com. One of those cheap games that might make a decent stocking filler for Christmas, I suppose.

Viva Pinata: Trouble In Paradise

It’s fair to say that if you weren’t a fan of the original Viva Pinata, then you won’t enjoy the sequel either. However, if you’ve missed out on playing it then Viva Pinata: Trouble In Paradise is much deeper and more addictive than you would think from looking at the very child-friendly graphics.

In the single player mode you need to restore order to the island by enticing specific pinatas to live in your garden, fill them with candy, and send them off to parties around the world. There’s also a new co-operative mode where you can play with friends either online or off.
