Cheap Games

The differences between the regular version of Call Of Duty 3 and Call Of Duty 3: Gold Edition are that you get a bonus DVD filled with interesting stuff on how the game was made and a token for a free map with the Gold Edition. Nice to have, I suppose.

The title itself is a third-person shooter (yes, another one) modeled after the Normandy breakout, where the American, British, Canadian, Polish, and French Resistance forces pushed into Chambois. After finishing the single player campaign, be sure to check out the online multiplayer mode as this is where Call Of Duty really comes into its own.

ShopTo are selling this XBox 360 game for £11.99 – click here for more details. If you’re after Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, it’s still £29.99 at Argos.

If you’re getting a bit sick of third-person shooters, I’m afraid you’ll bite my head off for mentioning Army Of Two. At least this one has a unique feature, as you have to use coordinated teamwork in order to accomplish the game’s goals – try and get a friend to play with you, as the computer is a bit shit to be honest.

Weapons can be fully customised using money acquired as you progress, and a semi-decent online multiplayer mode is also included. This is unlike standard deathmatch modes, because you have to watch each other’s backs and work together to defeat the opposing team.

PES 2008 (Pro Evolution Soccer) is the very first game in the Pro Evolution Soccer series to appear on the Wii, and is also the first to be released on a Nintendo console outside of Japan.

This version is radically different from all other console versions, thanks to the Wii’s unique controls. Pointing the Wii Remote at the screen and directing players by dragging them with the on-screen cursor, and passing by pointing to the desired space or player and pressing a button makes for a much more innovative way of playing.

NBA 2K6 is very much showing its age now, which isn’t too surprising considering it came out in 2005. When you see how cheap it is though, you might consider a purchase to serve as an introduction to how the series plays – the controls have never really changed, you see.

For all you achievement mentalists out there, this also acts as a very easy way to rack up an extra 1,000 points. I believe that you can get them all within as little as one match!

Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground is the ninth title to feature the world’s most famous skateboarder, and is actually sometimes known as Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 9 because of this.

There are many skaters to choose from, who are separated into three different groups – Career, Rigger, and Hardcore. Career skaters make a living from the sport, Riggers use the environment to make ramps and rails, and Hardcore skaters do it for the love of the sport.

Okami £23.99

One of the most underrated games of all time (and I don’t say this lightly!) has to be Okami. Sales have been disappointing for both the Wii and PlayStation 2 versions, which would normally mean that it’s bad – this is far, far, FAR from the truth.

Okami combines Japanese myths, legends, and folklore to tell the story of how the land was saved from darkness by the Shinto sun goddess Amaterasu, who has taken on the form of a white wolf.  The beautiful graphics and innovative gameplay help make for a gaming experience like no other, especially on the Wii.

Jumper is a terrible film that came out earlier in 2008 and did quite well – proof positive that people will watch any old shit at the cinema. Jumper: Griffin’s Story is a game based on this piece of nonsense, and it too is quite bad.

The very fact that the Game Rankings website have it done as an average of 23% based on various reviews will probably tell you everything you need to know.

XBox 360 owners can risk scarring themselves mentally by buying it for £9.99 as part of some Gamestation deals, or PlayStation 2 nutters can pay £2.99 to The Game Collection by clicking here and praying it’s not as bad as I’m trying to make out.

Diner Dash From £8.99

Diner Dash started off as one of the top-selling downloadable games in 2004, then moved on to mobile phones, and has finally landed on a variety of handheld consoles.

It’s an action strategy game where you take on the role of Flo, a stockbroker who has quit her job to run a diner. Gameplay involves seating customers and guiding Flo around to serve them, and if enough money is earned then you progress to the next level – whilst this happens, the restaurant is upgraded and three further diners are opened.

SoftUK are selling this DS title for £8.99 – click here for more details. PSP owners can also get this game for the slightly higher price of £9.99 by clicking here.

The Wii needs absolutely no introduction, as I’m sure that you’re sick to death of hearing about it – trust me when I say that the nearer we get to Christmas, the worse it will get. It’ll probably be out of stock all over the place as well.

Wii Sports is included with every purchase (for now anyway), and is a good example of what the console does well, simple games that anyone can pick up and play. It doesn’t matter if you’re 8 or 80, as the controls are dead simple.

Click here to buy the Nintendo Wii (with a copy of Wii Sports) for £159.99 from Woolworths. Be quick though, as this offer will surely sell out quickly.

The Naruto: Uzumaki Chronicles games are unlike any other in the Naruto series, as they are action and adventure titles. Naruto: Uzumaki Chronicles 2 is set directly after the first one, and focuses on the Shirogane Clan who are trying to regain power by using a forbidden jutsu to revive the Puppet Master – which allow them to rule over the Five Ninja Nations.

Missions are now separate from the story mode, several characters can be unlocked as you progress, and there’s a multiplayer mode as well.
