Cheap Games

The Guitar Hero series is incredibly popular, and with Rock Band on the scene there’s now some genuine competition for it to contend with. Before Guitar Hero IV next year, we are to be treated to two new band-related games.

Guitar Hero: Aerosmith (with a wireless guitar) is the first to be released – this contains some of the band’s greatest hits to play along to, as well as more tunes from others who have either toured or influenced them.

Click here to preorder the PlayStation 3 version, or click here for the XBox 360 version – both of which are £55.99 each at Powerplay Direct.

Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings £9.99

Following directly on from Final Fantasy XII, Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings allows you to experience new scenarios, meet new characters and explore new locations in Ivalice – where you may recognise some familiar characters, locations and gameplay systems as well.

The gameplay is incredibly simple to get your head round, so even the most stupid gamer (me!) can play without too much fuss. This is a DS exclusive, by the way, so don’t look for it anywhere else – you won’t find it!

SoftUK are selling this game for £9.99 – click here for more details.

SingStar: Rocks! (With Microphones) £24.99

If making a prat of yourself appeals to you, then the SingStar series is something that you should look into. Basically, it’s karaoke in the relative safety of your own home – I say safety, but if anyone happens to see you then they’ll think you should be committed.

SingStar: Rocks!, which comes with a couple of microphones, contains lots of recognisable tracks from such artists as Queen, Nirvana, Keane, Blur, Bowling For Soup and Coldplay.

Click here to buy this PlayStation 2 title for the decent price of £24.99 from Play.com – you also might like to know that SingStar: Anthems and SingStar: Bollywood are also available for cheap prices.

Madden NFL 08 From £12.99

I always feel a bit better inside when I see a new Madden game every year – it’s almost like a reminder of bygone years, or some kind of nonsense like that. Yes, I’m a little mad.

Anyway, Madden NFL 08 is the latest in the series and has a bunch of new features such as a read-and-react system, skill drills and a Fantasy Challenge mode (where you draft your dream team and advance through different levels of difficulty).

There’s many console versions available for decent prices. The PS2 release is £12.99 (click here), the PSP version is £13.99 (click here), the XBox 360 release is £14.99 (click here) and the Wii version is £18.99 (click here) – all from SoftUK.

Ben 10: Protector Of Earth £14.49

Ben 10 is a hit show on the Cartoon Network that most kids seem to like a great deal – heck, I’m sure I remember hearing that Gordon Brown was a bit of a fan which must mean something (no jokes about politicians acting like babies here, I’m afraid).

The Wii game Ben 10: Protector Of Earth sees you joining Ben and his family on a journey across America recover the lost pieces of the Omnitrix, to ultimately save the Earth from certain destruction – like a junior version of Dark Sector, almost.

Click here to pick up this game for £14.49 from SoftUK.

We’ve haven’t featured a Wii bundle for at least a week, so it’s about time for another one!

If you pop in to your local HMV, you should be able to pick up the Wii Console (along with copies of Wii Sports and Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures, as well as a Wii Accessory Pack) for £189.99.

This is great as you’re basically getting Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures for nothing.

Lost Odyssey £18.99

Embark upon an epic adventure with Lost Odyssey on the XBox 360, where you play the role of a thousand year old immortal who doesn’t remember his past and is unsure about his future. In some respects, a little bit like The Bourne Conspiracy (minus the immortality, obviously).

Your character, Kaim, will be joined by a handful of other misfits who must work together to discover their past and fulfil their destiny – this is one of those cheap games that’s going to take you quite some time to complete.

Click here to buy this title for the reduced price of £18.99 from Powerplay Direct.

The Wii Remote’s unique control scheme means that any game on the Wii takes on a new dimension. WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2008 is no different, as it has controls that make you look like a madman (then again, which Wii game doesn’t?).

With an updated roster, including the introduction of ECW stuff, this is as good as it gets in the way of wrestling video games.

Game have this title available for £14.99 – for more information, click here.

Other console versions of WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2008 are still available for reasonable prices.

Winston Chruchill was hit by a taxi in 1931 – what do think would have happened if he’d died? Well, Turning Point: Fall Of Liberty takes a look at what might have been.

By 1951, the world has fallen to Hitler and the Third Reich. You fight as part of the resistance against the enemy, in this vastly different first person shooter.

Click here to buy this PlayStation 3 title for £24.99 from Game (the XBox 360 release of Turning Point: Fall Of Liberty is also available for a similar price).

One day there will be a game based on a film that will be good – probably on the same day that Satan skates to work.

The film of Iron Man isn’t too bad as far as comic book films go, but sadly the game is a big steaming pile of turd. It looks like the developers just wanted to get something out in time for the release of the movie, without actually considering making something resembling a half-decent game.

In order to get the XBox 360 version, all you have to do is click right here (the PlayStation 3 release of Iron Man is the same price, incidentally).
