Sony PlayStation 3 320GB Slim Console £244.93

Another year can only mean yet another couple of PlayStation 3 models, though at least this time you're getting a massive increase in hard drive size – 320GB should be more than enough to last people quite a while before needing an upgrade.

The reason for this new system is the release of PlayStation Move, which is Sony's attempt at capturing some of the Wii audience. The only difference here is that the games being designed for use with it are actually looking very good (take note Nintendo).

The Hut have the Sony PlayStation 3 320GB Slim Console available for £244.93 – for more information, click here.

While not many reviews for third-person espionage role-playing game Alpha Protocol have been that positive, it's actually quite enjoyable in parts – the dialogue system in particular is an interesting concept which works rather well.

No online multiplayer mode might put some off, but if you're looking for a rip-roaring single player experience look no further – seriously, it is one of the more underrated titles of recent times.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 £4.99

While it's fair to say that your average movie tie-in game is usually about as good as hitting yourself on the head with a hammer, there are one or two worthwhile entries in the genre – though sadly Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 isn't one of them.

This action-adventure title based on the film of the same name has some good third-person sections to it, but the story elements fail to live up to either the big-screen version or the book.

If you fancy this Wii game, click here to buy it for £4.99 from Play.com.

Truth or Lies £2.99

Truth or Lies is a party game with a very subtle difference – it uses exclusive voice detection software in order to determine whether or not the answers given to over 3,000 questions are truthful or not.

Whilst it's certainly not going to win any awards, this is certainly a good bit of fun – especially if you've had a lemonade or two, I'd assume. Please note that you will need a microphone to be able to play, which is available separately.

Click here to get the XBox 360 version, or click here to get the PlayStation 3 release – both of which are only £2.99 each at Play.com.

Star Ocean: The Last Hope £9.79

Although every other entry in the series has appeared on a Sony console, Star Ocean: The Last Hope was first released on the XBox 360. Apparently this is down to the fact that the 360 is easier to develop for – something which has been noted by one or two other companies previously.

This fifth installment features more of a science fiction emphasis than past titles, with the ability to control your own ship, and the battle system now includes four party members. Serving as a prequel, the events depicted take place a few centuries before Star Ocean in approximately the year 2097.

base.com are selling this game for £9.79 – click here for more details.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 £9.99

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is a first-person shooter that serves as a direct sequel to the popular Battlefield: Bad Company. Although it faces strong competition from others in the genre, many have claimed this to be even better than titles such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

Set in various environments from South America and the mountainous regions along the borders of Russia, with all of the destructible capabilities returning from its predecessor, this has both an engaging single-player campaign and one of the best multiplayer modes around.

MAG £14.98

It's probably best to point out straight away that MAG is an online-only game – so if you don't have an Internet connection, it's basically unplayable (although if you're reading this, I'm presuming that this is something not really worth pointing out!).

256 players take to the battlefield to win glory in a world of online warfare on an unprecedented scale, across three different factions in a number of roles. Some technical awkwardness exists, but believe me when I say that this is something not to be missed…

GoldenEye 007 from £17.99

GoldenEye 007 is a Wii remake of the Nintendo 64 first-person classic, which is based on the James Bond film GoldenEye – though Daniel Craig is Bond in this, instead of Pierce Brosnan (who was in both the N64 game and the movie).

Though there are some notable differences, with altered levels to reflect the modified story and modern game design techniques like destructible environments used, everything feels very familiar. The excellent multiplayer mode is back too, with the added bonus of online action…

Amazon have this available for £17.99 – for more information, click here. If you fancy the Collector's Edition, which comes with a gold classic controller, click here to get it for £32 from Tesco.

Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition from £13.85

Borderlands is a science fiction first-person shooter with role-playing game elements which completely deserves the title "Game of the Year", more than others do – hence the reason that a Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition is being released.

Inside this bundle you'll not only find the brilliant game, but also all four add-ons that have been made available to download. "The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned", "Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot", "The Secret Armory of General Knoxx" and "Claptrap's New Robot Revolution" will extend the lifespan of this even further.

Click here to get the PlayStation 3 version for £13.85 from Simply Games, or click here to get the XBox 360 release for £17.89 from Sendit.com. Certainly one of the best cheap games on either console, and unmissable at these record low prices.
