Cheap Games

The Incredible Hulk

If you’ve been visiting this site for any period of time, you may have noticed that I’m quite harsh on games based on movies – I only do it to warn everyone about how bad they generally are. I’m aware that some people enjoy crap games, which is fine, but I’d hate to see someone buy one on the expectation of it being good.

The Incredible Hulk is yet another title to add to the ever expanding list of mediocrity. At least Edward Norton provides the voice for Bruce Banner, although I doubt this would be a deal-breaker!

If you fancy the Wii version, click here to buy it for £9.97 from PC World. PlayStation 3 (click here) and XBox 360 (click here) owners can get their releases for £9.99 from Comet, whilst DS players can click here to buy their version for £11.49 from Forget The Rest.

XBox 360 20GB Hard Drive

In a nice bit of generosity (I suppose), Microsoft are selling the XBox 360 20GB Hard Drive for the lower price of £12.99.

The offer is open to either Arcade or Core console owners who don’t have a hard drive, as there’s a new update thing coming out in November which needs extra space or something.

Tony Hawk's Proving Ground is one of those cheap games that's somewhat disappointing

Even though it’s the ninth game in the long-running series, Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground is somewhat disappointing. With the arrival of Skate, me thinks that Neversoft will have to pull something out of the bag to bring people back to them.

If you’ve never played a Tony Hawk title before, they’re skating games that give you the freedom to perform tricks anywhere you feel like. Along the way there’s various items to unlock, and new characters to find as well.

Gamestation have this PlayStation 3 title available for £9.98 – click here for more details.

Viva Piñata: Trouble In Paradise

After the huge success of Viva Piñata, a sequel was inevitable. Many thought that Viva Piñata: Party Animals would be it, but it was instead a collection of mini-games – however, Viva Piñata: Trouble In Paradise IS a true sequel. Chances are very high that if you were a fan of the first one, that you’ll enjoy this one just as much.

32 new animals have been added to the mix, raising the total to 100. A range of different game modes are now present as well, including one where you can hop in to begin work on a garden (without worrying about running out of money or unlocking items) and another where piñatas can be entered in beauty contests (!) and races.

FIFA 09

It’s now quite a difficult choice to make when it comes to football games, with FIFA 09 being on a par with PES 2009: Pro Evolution Soccer. Well done EA for finally seeing that shoving out the same game every year with small updates was a bad idea!

This year’s release comes with the usual smattering of new additions, the best of which looks like the pay-based Adidas Live Season. It updates player stats on a weekly basis, but costs £4.99 per league (or £12.99 for all six leagues available).

Click here to buy the XBox 360 version, or click here to get the PlayStation 3 release – both of which are £32.99 each at ShopTo.

PES 2009: Pro Evolution Soccer

With FIFA improving every year, there’s increasing pressure on the Pro Evolution Soccer team to come up with fresh ideas to keep them ahead. With PES 2009: Pro Evolution Soccer, there’s one or two new things which add more to the game than ever before.

You can now change your tactics to adjust to specific situations, off-the-ball movement has been improved, and things like the heaviness of the ground can affect gameplay. There’s a couple of new modes too in the form of UEFA Champions League (with all the elements and attributes you’d expect) and Be A Legend (where you control a particular player throughout his career).

ShopTo are selling the PlayStation 3 version for £32.99 – for more information on this cheap games‘ availability, click here. The XBox 360 release is also the same price, from the same retailer, and you can get it by clicking here.

Sony PlayStation 3

With Christmas fast approaching, there’s a couple of PlayStation 3 deals that are probably worth taking a look at. With the dreaded credit crunch still with us, who knows if more will appear nearer the time…

ShopTo have the 40GB console with copies of Ratchet & Clank: Tools Of Destruction and Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune priced at £259.99. Click here to see the full details of the offer.

Meanwhile over at Game you can get the bigger 80GB console with copies of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed for £309.99 – click here to see more information.

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars is the sequel to PC title Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, but is set in the same universe as Quake II and Quake 4 – just to confuse the heck out of everybody! There’s also a minimal back-story which serves as a prequel to Quake II thrown in for good measure.

The graphics on the next-generation console versions are nowhere near as good as the PC release, which is a bit disappointing. However, if you enjoy multiplayer-based shoot-em-ups then I’m sure you’ll like this one too.

Click here to get the XBox 360 version, or click here to get the PS3 release – both of which are £14.98 each at Gamestation.

Guitar Hero: Aerosmith (With Wireless Guitar)

First off, an apology – the site hasn’t been updated for some 12 days now, as I’ve had the flu. You’ll be glad to hear that I’m better now, so expect updates every day from now on. Great.

Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, with a wireless guitar, is the first band-specific title in the series and features songs not only by Aerosmith themselves, but other groups they have toured with or who have influenced them in some way.

Gamestation have the PlayStation 3 version available for £49.98 – click here for more details. You may also be interested to learn that the Wii (click here) and XBox 360 (click here) releases are also the same price.

Pure £17.99

Pure (PS3)    Pure (XBox 360)

The creators of the MotoGP series of games are well known for their in-depth racing simulations, so it’s something of a surprise how accessible and fun Pure actually is.

Taking the helm of a quad bike, that you can customise to your heart’s content, perform ridiculous and death-defying jumps that will very probably leave your underpants a darker shade of brown.

Click here to buy the PlayStation 3 version, or click here for the XBox 360 release – both of which are £7.99 at ShopTo.
