Cheap Games

When the god of discord, Chaos, tries to wrest control of their worlds from the forces of good, a great conflict takes place between the heroes and villains from different Final Fantasy games in the PSP exclusive Dissidia: Final Fantasy.

Fights take place in three dimensions, and, as ever, the aim is to reduce your opponent's HP to zero by using individual special powers to cause maximum damage. Also of interest is the wireless multiplayer mode, where you can fight other players one-on-one across the globe.

Colin McRae: DiRT 2 From £12.73

The sad death of rally driver Colin McRae in 2007 left the future of the gaming series that bares his name in doubt – however it was decided to carry on in his memory, and Colin McRae: DiRT 2 serves as a fitting tribute to one of the best racers this country has ever seen.

Nintendo console titles differ from the others in that they have been built from the ground up to utilise their unique capabilities. This also means that on the DS you can use the stylus to draw your own tracks in the editor mode, and on the Wii you can compete with three other players in split-screen family party action.

The Hut are selling the DS release for £12.73 – click here for more details. Wii owners can click here to buy their version for £14.73 from the same retailer.

Lips (With Two Microphones) £24.73

For some time now Sony have been dominating the karaoke video game market with their SingStar franchise, so a Microsoft version was inevitable at some point. The result is Lips, which must go down as one of the single worst title names of all time.

It's very similar to SingStar in that the object of the game is to sing along to songs in the best way that you can, except that with this title you can't really fail out of a song if you do badly. An excellent introduction is the ability to connect a digital music player to your console and sing along to the music that you have stored on it (minus lyrics, sadly).

Click here to buy Lips, with two microphones, for £24.73 from The Hut.

Cursed Mountain is a Wii exclusive survival horror game that sees you play as a fearless mountaineer on a quest to trace your lost brother and discover ancient secrets of the Tibetan Monks in the Himalayas. Terrifyingly though, you are not alone…

Encountering the angry souls of monks and climbers who are trapped in Bardo (a spiritual realm between this world and the next), you must stun them and make gestures with the Wii Remote to free them from their torment.

If you fancy this, click here to buy it for £17.73 from The Hut.

Quantum Of Solace £5.80

While most console versions of Quantum Of Solace are first-person shooters (save for the PS2, which is third-person), the DS release is a kind of hybrid – this is because it's played with the handheld system in a sideways position, much like Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword.

The plot revolves around scenes from both of Daniel Craig's outing as Bond thus far, which means that fans of Casino Royale will probably want to take a look at this as well.

Hot Pixel is a little bit like the WarioWare titles, in that you compete in around 200 micro-games (that only last a few seconds each) before taking on one of ten boss games. As it's been made by Atari, expect all of your old favourites like Space Invaders and Breakout to make an appearance.

Once you've mastered the somewhat difficult single player campaign, why not battle with a friend via the multiplayer mode? There's even a turn-based option which means you'll only need the one copy…

Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword £5.99

Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword is the first of the Ninja Gaiden series to appear on the DS – in fact it’s the first to appear on any handheld console, full stop. Set six months after Ninja Gaiden, Ry Hayabusa has rebuilt Hayabusa Village, but must find fellow villager Momiji who has been kidnapped by the Black Spider Ninja Clan…
