Guitar Hero III: Legends Of Rock (With Wireless Guitar) From £17.99

The Guitar Hero games are really something that you have to experience yourself to understand how great they are. It sounds a bit crappy pushing some buttons in time to music, but in reality is one of the best gaming experiences you’ll probably ever have.

Guitar Hero III: Legends Of Rock has been out for a little while now, so the prices have started to go down a bit. Guitar Hero: World Tour is out now as well, and is the first in the series to use drums and a microphone (like Rock Band did before it).

HMV are selling the PlayStation 2 version of Guitar Hero III: Legends Of Rock, with a wireless guitar, for £17.99 – click here for more details. Wii owners can click here to buy their release for £34.99 from the same retailer, or XBox 360 gamers can get their version for £39.99, from Choices UK, by clicking here.

XBox 360 Wireless Entertainment Pack (Kung Fu Panda, Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures And An XBox 360 Wireless Controller) £19.99

Sometimes bundles contain downright awful games that nobody would normally touch with a ten foot bargepole – however the XBox 360 Wireless Entertainment Pack is different as it contains Kung Fu Panda, Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures and an XBox 360 Wireless Controller.

At first glance you might think that the two included titles are poor, but I’m here to tell you that you’re wrong. Lego Indiana Jones is perhaps one of the best experiences you can have in multiplayer (apart from Call Of Duty), and Kung Fu Panda is a very underrated game based on the film of the same name.

Shaun White Snowboarding: Road Trip £12.95

The difference between Shaun White Snowboarding: Road Trip and the other console versions is that this one has been developed from the ground up for the Wii – obviously, due to the limitations of the system, the graphics are slightly inferior but this doesn’t take anything away from the excitement.

A unique storyline and adventure with Shaun White would probably be enough to satisfy anyone, but this is also compatible with the Wii Balance Board – although it works just fine without it.

Nintendo DS Lite (With Nintendogs: Labrador & Friends) £89.99

The recent release of the DSi has proved very popular, but there are many advantages to getting a DS Lite instead – you can play GameBoy Advance games for a start, and extra accessories (like the Guitar Grip for the Guitar Hero titles and the Motion Pack for Tony Hawk’s Motion) will work without any problems.

You miss out on the use of some cameras and the exciting-looking DSi Ware games, but I feel these are hardly worth paying an extra £30 for. Perhaps a future price cut might make the DSi seem more value for money – there is no guarantee this will happen though.

Click here to get a Nintendo DS Lite, with Nintendogs: Labrador & Friends, for £89.99 from Play.com. One slight drawback is that it’s in pink, however I’m sure this will only be a minor problem!

XBox 360 Premium (With Two Games And Two Controllers) £169.99

Originally the middle model of XBox 360 came with a 20GB hard drive, which would probably be fine for the average gamer. However, in a rare moment of generosity, Microsoft decided to bump the Premium drive up to 60GB – three times the space, and more than enough for pretty much everyone.

It’s also nice to get a title or two when you buy a console in the first place, so I’m sure that if you’re in the market for one that you’ll find this bundle quite interesting.

Click here to buy an XBox 360 Premium, with two games and two controllers, for £169.99 from Amazon. The titles to select from are damn good as well, including UFC 2009: Undisputed and Gears Of War 2 – additionally, you also get an HDMI cable at no extra cost (which is very handy indeed).

Rock Band: Band In A Box £59.97

While it was great fun to rock out on a plastic guitar with the Guitar Hero games, the arrival of Rock Band meant that up to four people could play at once – with drums, a bass guitar and singing being added to the lead guitar.

The Rock Band: Band In A Box contains everything you’ll need to get going, except from a copy of the game (which is a bit annoying). Inside it you’ll find one guitar, drums and a microphone – most of which should work with other band-based titles, including Guitar Hero: Metallica.

InFamous: Special Edition £38.73

While there are some very good third-party games for the PlayStation 3, it’s with console exclusives that the system really comes into its own. The MotorStorm and Resistance series’ have been excellent thus far, but forthcoming release InFamous that looks as though it could easily surpass both.

A gripping and engaging storyline, massive battles and some beautiful graphics help make this one of the best PS3 titles yet. The InFamous: Special Edition comes with a copy of the game, a special packaging design, an artwork book and a code to unlock a bonus super-power.

Click here to buy this for £38.73 from The Hut. Remember that you can still get the cheaper standard version of InFamous for £32.95 from ShopTo.

Zack & Wiki: Quest For Barbaros’ Treasure £9.91

Zack & Wiki: Quest For Barbaros’ Treasure is an action and adventure game that stars a pair of pirates who search for treasure, Zack and Wiki, and a talking skull called Barbaros – the latter being a ghost of a legendary pirate who promises to lead Zack to a mysterious island if he can lift a curse by collecting treasure.

While this is easily one of the best titles on the Wii, sales have been on the poor side which means that a sequel is unlikely any time soon. Not to worry though, as this is challenging and entertaining enough to warrant repeat visits.

Click here to buy this fantastic game for £9.91 from Asda.
