SNK Arcade Classics: Volume One (PSP)    SNK Arcade Classics: Volume One (Wii)

SNK Arcade Classics: Volume One is a collection of 16 of publisher SNK Playmore’s very best games released on the Neo Geo console – which was, funnily enough, a piece of hardware sold by SNK Playmore!

Magician Lord, Burning Fight, Fatal Fury, King Of The Monsters, Sengoku, Art Of Fighting, Baseball Stars 2, Last Resort, Samurai Shodown, The King Of Fighters ‘94, Top Hunter, Super Sidekicks 3: The Next Glory, Metal Slug, Neo Turf Masters, and Shock Troopers are playable as soon as you turn the game on – World Heroes has to be unlocked.

HMV have the PSP version available for £7.99 – for more information, click here. Wii owners can click here to buy their release for £9.99 from ShopTo.

Wall-E £7.95

Wall-E

With a plot following the one in the film very closely, Wall-E is a game that is sure to appeal to kids everywhere – although it has to be said that it’s by no means the easiest title in the world, as some of it is quite tricky (even for more experienced gamers).

This PlayStation 3 release comes with nine worlds to explore and also includes a co-op mode, where both Wall-E and EVE are playable characters. Also of interest is that fact that their are some new storylines to enjoy, which might help fill in one or two blanks from the movie.

Beautiful Katamari

Beautiful Katamari is the fourth entry in the Katamari series, and is the first not to appear on a Sony console. It was originally scheduled to appear on the PlayStation 3, but development was abandoned due to porting problems and stalled system sales (at the time).

If you’ve never played this before, you control a "katamari" to collect bigger objects which in turn allows you to grow in size even more. To advance through levels, specific items need to be gathered – for example, to make the planet Mercury, you need to collect liquids.

Sid Meier's Civilization: Revolution (PS3)    Sid Meier's Civilization: Revolution (XBox 360)

Sid Meier’s Civilization: Revolution is a turn-based strategy title that has been streamlined and simplified to make it easier to play for newcomers to the series. In past installments, games could last more than 10 hours – in this they, for the most part, can be finished within three hours.

One of 16 different civilizations can be controlled, with each having their own individual leader. You start with a special bonus (in the form of a technology, a Great Person, or a special ability), and as the game progresses the civilizations obtain new abilities when they reach a specific number of technology.

Armored Core: For Answer

Critics haven’t been all that kind (when are they ever!) to Armored Core: For Answer, but I’m not entirely sure why – you’d think that with this being the 13th installment in the Armored Core series, that they’d at least find something positive to write about it.

Fantastic graphics, an interesting storyline with a multitude of different endings, and some exciting quick-fire combat make for one decent game. Ignore the lackeys with the pens, as this is well worth adding to your collection.

NHL 2K9 (PS3)    NHL 2K9 (XBox 360)

NHL 2K9 goes back to basics with new easy-to-learn controls, but at the same time retains advanced control schemes for veterans of the series. It wasn’t really that difficult to play before, however it’s nice to see the developers think of newcomers – perhaps E.A. should take notes?!?

More superstar moves, updated stick handling moves, an enhanced skating and fighting engine, and improved collisions are just some of the new improvements on offer. The best of the bunch though is the ability to join up with five online players to compete in a team against others around the world.

The Hut have both the XBox 360 (click here) and PS3 (click here) versions available for £11.73 each.
