MadWorld £4.91

A distinct lack of "adult" titles has put off some hardcore gamers from picking up a Wii – hopefully MadWorld will help bring some of them back into the fold. With strong language and litres of blood, this is certainly not something they'll be playing in retirement homes…

Varrigan City has been seized by terrorists and turned into a sporting arena, where "kill or be killed" is the only rule. Using whatever you find lying about, destroy your enemies and rule the roost over a city that's a law unto itself.

Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts £6.98

After a wait of around five years since Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge came out on the GameBoy Advance, Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts arrives exclusively on the XBox 360 – and manages to be almost as good as the first two original Nintendo 64 outings.

Set eight years after the events of Banjo-Tooie, we quickly learn that both Banjo and Kazooie have become fat and lazy. When the evil Gruntilda re-appears, it's up to them to save Spiral Mountain and defeat their greatest enemy.

After Resident Evil 4 blew everyone away with its addictiveness and gripping storyline, big things were expected from Resident Evil 5 – not only was it the first in the series to appear on the XBox 360, but the PlayStation 3 as well. Thankfully it didn't disappoint either, with some of the best graphics ever seen and frantic gameplay.

The Resident Evil 5: Limited Edition release contains a copy of the game in a special steelbook case, along with a 60-minute in-depth "making of" DVD. There's also some downloadbale content to buy on the PlayStation Store, in the form of a competitive multiplayer mode titled "Versus".

Click here to get this PS3 title for £17.99 from HMV.

Left 4 Dead pits four survivors of an apocalyptic pandemic against hordes of aggressive zombies, and can be played either in a four-player co-op Campaign or an eight-player Versus mode.

Although it's name (and indeed cover) may not inspire confidence, this is quite possibly the best co-op shooter made thus far. The tension and action of a Hollywood zombie movie are captured perfectly, and the replayability factor is higher than many other games in the genre.

The Lord Of The Rings: Conquest £6.94

The Lord Of The Rings: Conquest is an action title based on the films, rather than the books, which allows you to play as both the forces of good and evil – however, unlike The Lord Of The Rings: The Battle For Middle-earth, the latter option is based around Sauron stopping the One Ring from being destroyed and fighting back.

Disappointing gameplay mechanics, button-bashing, and some slightly dodgy graphics let this down somewhat. That's not to say this is terrible though, as the musical score and online modes are very good indeed.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Smash-Up £7.99

Although it's similar in style to the Super Smash Bros. series, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Smash-Up features a significantly smaller roster of characters to choose from – a small gripe perhaps, but one that at times makes you wish you were playing Super Smash Bros.: Brawl instead!

Anyway, seven different game modes mean that this will take you quite some time to get through. Throw in an online multiplayer option, and you have something that fans of the heroes in a half-shell will enjoy a great deal.

Amazon have this Wii title available for £7.99 – for more information, click here.

Red Faction: Guerrilla £11.75

Red Faction: Guerrilla is the third installment in the first-person shooter series, and the first to appear on next-generation consoles. It was originally delayed for some time in order to get the most out of the system – and I can only say that it was definitely worth it, as this looks and sounds fantastic.

Set 50 years after the climatic events of the very first Red Faction, this allows you to take the role of an insurgent fighter with the newly re-established movement as they battle for liberation from the the oppressive Earth Defence Force…

Pokemon HeartGold and Pokemon SoulSilver £26.85 Each

Pokemon HeartGold and Pokemon SoulSilver are enhanced DS remakes of the GameBoy titles Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver respectively. The main reason this has happened is so that they can be compatible with Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl, whilst improvements have also been made to the sound and control setup.

Both games also come with their own Pokewalker accessory, which is a pedometer shaped like a Poke Ball that can connect with the DS game card via infrared signals – this can "hold" a pokemon and improve its experience and closeness.

If you fancy Pokemon HeartGold, click here to buy it for £26.85 from ShopTo. Click here to buy Pokemon SoulSilver for the same price from the same retailer.

If the names of such musical artists as Miley Cyrus and the Jonas brothers mean absolutely nothing to you, then chances are high that the Disney: Sing It franchise won't be your cup of tea – both are featured a number of times between the two games released thus far.

Both Disney: Sing It and Disney: Sing It – Pop Hits are your standard SingStar clones, with the aim being to hit as many notes as perfectly as you can for as long as each song lasts. The latter also has trophy support, for all of those trophy hunters out there!

Dead Space: Extraction £9.75

The success of other rail-shooters like Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles and The House Of The Dead: Overkill means that we can expect to see many more in the future – starting with the new king of the genre, Dead Space: Extraction.

Taking place before the events of Dead Space and during the same period as animated film Dead Space: Downfall, it revolves around a group of space colonists from Aegis VII fighting against the infection of Necromorphs created when the Red Marker is removed…
