Little Big Planet £29.99

Little Big Planet is one of the most innovative games that I’ve seen in recent years, and one that could potentially last forever. And to think we all used to believe that Pong was amazing!

You control small avatars (known as Sackboys, due to their appearance) in a variety of platforming scenarios. There’s a set of pre-built levels to explore, but where this really comes into its own is with its customisable nature – your character and personal space can be altered, and you can also build new objects and levels which can then be shared and played with online.

Midnight Club: Los Angeles £24.99

As you will probably be able to tell by its title, Midnight Club: Los Angeles sees you racing all across Los Angeles on either cars or bikes. For some reason there are considerably fewer vehicles to choose from than before, with 43 cars and only 3 bikes.

Up to 16 players can race against each other online, which will be of some relief after tackling the rather difficult AI! A special mention should be made for the soundtrack, as there are some excellent tunes included from various hip-hop artists.

If you fancy this PlayStation 3 title, click here to buy it for £24.99 from Game. XBox 360 owners can click here to get their version for the same price from the same retailer.

PlayStation 3 80GB Console Deals

Since overcoming some initial problems, the PlayStation 3 has gone one to become one of the top consoles on the market today. With a growing catalogue of decent tiles, both this and the XBox 360 are streets ahead of the competition – let’s just hope that Nintendo pull their finger out and get some "A List" games out for the Wii!

There are two noteworthy PlayStation 3 80GB console deals available at the moment, both of which come with a copy of the excellent Little Big Planet.

Instore at Blockbuster you can pick up a console with copies of FIFA 09 and Little Big Planet, plus Iron Man on Blu-Ray, for £299.99. You also get £20 worth of free rentals, which is nice.

Meanwhile, over at Amazon you can get the console with a copy of Little Big Planet for £289.97. This is good enough, but at the moment you get a free HDMI cable, and for an extra £10 can choose a game to add to the package (from a very extensive list, that includes the new WWE title). Click here to see what it’s all about.

Although there have been a few Arcade offers recently, this XBox 360 60GB Premium with three games deal is probably better than any of them. This is down to the fact that the titles included are quite good, and not any old crap thrown together in a bundle.

The titles are Kung Fu Panda, Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures, and Viva Piñata. Oh, and you also get an extra wireless controller as well.

Argos have this set available for £169.95 – for more information, click here (click the "Special offers" tab, and it’s "Offer 6").

Amazon Gaming Special Offers

There’s a handful of Amazon gaming special offers that seem worth a mention, which I’ve sorted out into separate console listings.

I’m nice like that.

DS

Nintendo DS Lite (With At Least One Free Game) From £99.98*

PS2

Buzz! The Hollywood Quiz (With Buzzers) £12.99

PS3

NHL 2K8 £9.40

Wii

Battalion Wars 2 £11.75

XBox 360

Bully: Scholarship Edition £10.58
FIFA Street 3 £9.40
NHL 2K8 £6.46
Two Worlds £9.40

* It’s actually possible to get more than one game free with this offer – simply get one of the console packs which already come with a game (the Big Brain Academy, Cooking Guide, Guitar Hero: On Tour, or Nintendogs)!

UPDATE: Few new titles added, with NHL 2K8 and Battalion Wars 2 looking particularly good value.

The XBox 360 Arcade is the smallest system of the three different varieties available, but it does come with five games from the XBox Live Marketplace (Boom Boom Rocket, Feeding Frenzy, Luxor 2, Pac-Man and Uno). Please note that it doesn’t come with a hard drive, but you could take up Microsoft’s offer of an XBox 360 20GB Hard Drive for £12.99 if you really want one.

PES 2009: Pro Evolution Soccer is the newest entry in the long-running series of football titles, which has a range of new features. With FIFA snapping at its heels, Konami really need to be on the ball to keep ahead…

Currys are selling the XBox 360 Arcade (with PES 2009: Pro Evolution Soccer) for £129.99 – for more information, click here.

UPDATE: It’s worth bumping this back up again, as it’s back in stock. You can also get a pack which has Fable II instead of Pro Evo for the same price by clicking here.

And again we see there’s another pack for the same price of £129.99, this time with Gears Of War 2. Click here to order it.

The great thing about Buzz! Quiz TV is that you’re not limited to what you get on the disc – there’s the chance to use other people’s content for your own enjoyment. Add this to a decent online multiplayer mode, and you have a near-perfect quiz game.

In the Buzz! Quiz TV: Special Edition box you get a copy of the game, four wireless buzzers, and two extra packs of questions (which normally retail for around £9 each on the PlayStation Store).

Click here to buy this PlayStation 3 set for £39.99 from Currys.

Pure £17.99

Although it’s quite fair to say that Pure isn’t the most in-depth game ever made, it has to be one of the most exciting. Not only does it look amazing, the tricks and stunts you can pull off look just as good.

It’s an off-road racer, by the way, that can either be played alone or against anyone from across the world via the wireless network. Great fun it is too.

Zavvi have both the PS3 (click here) and XBox 360 (click here) versions of this game available for £17.99 each.

Half-Life 2: The Orange Box is great value for money, as you’re actually getting five games in one box. These are Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Episode One, Half-Life 2: Episode Two, Team Fortress 2, and Portal.

The surprise hit from this little lot has to be Portal, which consists of a series of puzzles that are solved by teleporting your character and simple objects using the "portal gun".

Click here to get this XBox 360 title for £12.93 from Amazon.

Magical Starsign £4.99

The fact that Magical Starsign is the sequel to GameBoy Advance title Magical Vacation is a little bit irrelevant really, as it wasn’t released in the West at all. It’s a pity, because I’m sure that GBA owners would have enjoyed it immensely.

Anyway, you play as a student at a magical academy who must try and rescue both your teacher and your classmates who have mysteriously disappeared. There’s also an extra dungeon to explore when you take part in the multiplayer mode.

If you fancy this DS game, click here to buy it for just £4.99 from Gamestation.
