Cheap Games

Many of the reviews for Tomb Raider: Underworld have been mixed, but what I think everyone can agree on is how good the game looks. The crappy camera angles and dodgy combat system let it down a bit, although you soon forget this minor annoyances and discover a title that's well worth adding to your collection.

Whilst XBox 360 owners have an additional treat or two, in the form of a couple of extra chapters (titled "Beneath The Ashes" and "Lara's Shadow"),  there's no sign of either appearing on the PlayStation 3 I'm afraid – unless Sony beg and plead, I suppose.

Katamari Forever is the newest entry in the fun Katamari Damacy series, and is the very first to appear on the PlayStation 3. Nothing much has changed gameplay wise, with the object still being to roll over and collect as many items as possible – which is a good thing, as anything different would have seemed out of place.

A mix of 30 levels are included, with some being brand new and others being souped up versions from other Katamari titles. Sadly there is no online multiplayer mode, but there is an offline one – which I'm sure you'll be playing for some time to come.

Dead or Alive 4 £4.93

Dead or Alive 4 is the fourth entry in the main series of one of the best fighting series' of all-time. With 22 different characters to choose from to battle it out across many multi-tiered and interactive arenas, this is sure to keep you coming back for more…

The counter system has been tightened, making the window for counters shorter and more difficult to execute, plus the amount of damage that they inflict has also been lowered – helping to make for a much more interesting and exciting experience.

At this very moment in time there's a The Hut £4 discount available – however, there's a catch…you need to spend at least £40 before you can use it.

This is much easier to do than it sounds though, especially when it comes to games!

Click here to visit their site, and enter CLEAR4 at the checkout to get your discount (until midnight on the 24th of January 2010).

Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise £4.99

It's fair to say that if you weren't a fan of the original Viva Pinata, then you won't enjoy the sequel either. However, if you've missed out on playing it then Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise is much deeper and more addictive than you would think from looking at the very child-friendly graphics.

In the single player mode you need to restore order to the island by enticing specific pinatas to live in your garden, fill them with candy, and send them off to parties around the world. There's also a new co-operative mode where you can play with friends either online or off.

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian £3.95

Based on the film of the same name, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian is an action-adventure game which favours a traditional hack and slash gameplay style – although there are a few puzzles to solve along the way as well.

Up to 20 different characters are playable, plus there is a very handy drop-in-drop-out two player mode. Certainly something that younger gamers will get a lot out of (some older ones too, I imagine!).

Soul Calibur IV is, rather confusingly, the fifth entry in the Namco series of fighting games. Story, Arcade, Training and Museum modes from previous titles return, along with a new one in the form of Tower Of Lost Souls – which requires you to win battles in order to gain rewards.

Character Creation from Soul Calibur III also makes a comeback, although weapon styles are restricted to those already available with the original set of characters. Speaking of which, this has special guest appearances from The Apprentice and Yoda of Star Wars fame (Darth Vader can be purchased as downloadable content).

Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth £17.99

Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth is a standard point and click adventure, and is a spin-off from the main Ace Attorney series (which has nearly always focused on Phoenix Wright up until now) – with similar gameplay mechanics to the other four titles.

Five different cases are included, with each unlocked by solving the previous case, in much the same fashion as other Ace Attorney games. Basically, if you've played one of them before, you'll feel right at home with this one as well.

If you think that Sony are bad with their constant buggering around with the size of the hard drive in the PlayStation 3, Microsoft are probably worse when it comes to the XBox 360 – you can currently get an Arcade, Premium or Elite console (although the Premium has just been discontinued).

The XBox 360 Elite is in black and comes with a 120GB hard drive. All the accessories are black as well, so everything looks quite snazzy (not that that should really matter too much, to be honest).

The Hut, meanwhile, have a bundle with copies of Lego Batman: The Video Game and Pure in the box for £173.73 – for more information, click here.

Click here to visit Amazon who have the system for £199.99, with either a Wireless Entertainment Pack (black controller, Lego Batman: The Video Game and Pure) or a choice of two titles from fourteen (including Bayonetta and Darksiders).
