It’s been said that if you’ve played one Tiger Woods game, you don’t need to play any more – I disagree with this statement. Every year the difficulty level does go up a bit, and, anyway, the online mode gets better and better (and is probably worth getting this for alone).

Tiger’s real life coach appears in Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 to give you hints and tips, but is more of a gimmick than any real help. There’s one or two other tweaks been made as well that improve the overall gameplay, and there’s also a fully updated roster of golfers to choose to play with.

Before Guitar Hero: World Tour essentially copied the idea, the fact that you could play as part of a virtual band was a great selling point for Rock Band. It’s just a pity that damn things cost so much!

Inside the Rock Band: Band In A Box kit you’ll find a microphone, drums, and a guitar. What you won’t find is a copy of the game, which is a tad irritating – however, you could pick up a copy of Rock Band 2 for £24.99…

Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is basically an expansion pack for Guitar Hero III: Legends Of Rock, except that it’s much shorter and easier to play. Obviously being a fan of the band themselves would be ideal, as they contribute 29 songs out of the 40 on the disc.

Your strumming of the guitar is shown on screen with graphical representations of the band, which means that you’ll see an even scarier version of Steven Tyler than you would in real life.

Long-time players of the Soul Calibur games will be glad to hear that in Soul Calibur IV you can finally take the fight online – I have to admit that there’s very little more enjoyable than battering some poor sod on the other side of the world!

If you’re new to the series fret not, as it’s very easy to pick up and play. This doesn’t mean that experienced gamers should feel left out though, because there’s plenty of depth (including a huge amount of single player challenges in the "Tower Of Lost Souls" mode).

When you get an XBox 360, a wireless controller is supplied inside you box when you buy it – however, unless your are as popular as a fart in a jacuzzi, you’ll probably want another one.

The design is much more user-friendly than that of the original XBox, with all of the buttons in very easy-to-use and comfortable positions on the pad.

Soul Bubbles is a puzzle game in which you play as a young shaman apprentice whose duty is to care for lost souls. Create protective bubbles to keep them safe, whilst travelling through the 40 levels contained within eight different worlds.

This is a beautiful little game which keeps you entertained from start to finish, but which can also leave you tearing your hair out in sheer frustration at how difficult it is!

Call Of Duty 3 is the third installment in the first-person shooter series and is the only one not to appear on home computer platforms. It’s also only the second World War II game to feature Canada as a playable country – something which is a bit of a mystery why they have been overlooked previously, if you ask me.

Although this is still a very decent title, up against others bearing the Call Of Duty tag it falls short somewhat. The graphics and sound are both excellent, however since Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare came out the multiplayer mode looks rather dated.

Mirror’s Edge is a first-person action-adventure game set in a conformist dystopia in which communication is heavily monitored by a totalitarian regime (remind you of anywhere?). A network of runners, including the main character Faith, are therefore used to transmit messages whilst evading the Government.

If there’s one criticism you could have about this game, it’s that it’s a little on the short side – don’t be surprised if you’ve completed it within a couple of days or so. Well worth getting if you’re looking for something a bit different from the norm though.

Even during one of the worst recessions in recent history (apparently), the PS3 continues to sell well both in this country and around the world. Perhaps this shows that Sony were right not to cut the price of the system – although a slight reduction would have been nice!

Amazon currently have a deal whereby you can get a Sony PlayStation 3 80GB console, with three games, a Blu-Ray movie and an HDMI cable, for £289.99. Titles to choose from include UFC 2009: Undisputed, FIFA 09 and Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
