Black Nintendo Wii Console (with Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort and Wii MotionPlus) £129

Since its release in 2006, the Wii has gone on to revolutionise gaming as we know it – whether that's a good thing or not is still up for debate. Nintendo certainly seem prepared to let any old Tom, Dick or Harry make some utterly worthless titles for the system, which has unfortunately turned off some of the more hardcore gamers.

Originally only available in a standard white colour, it looks as though we may be seeing all kinds of different shades in the future. First off we have the black version, which also comes with a black Wii Remote (and will look quite good next to your XBox 360 Elite!).

Eternal Sonata £12.93

Eternal Sonata is an interesting role-playing game that sees you enter a fictional world that is influenced by the life and music of the Polish romantic pianist and composer Frederic Chopin.

As you can imagine, the soundtrack in this is astounding – quite possibly one of the best you'll ever hear, in fact. Although there's one too many mini-games and it's a little bit on the short side, the story will keep you coming back for more.

The PS3 doesn't just lets you play games or Blu-Ray movies, you can also watch and record digital television through it as well. Handy if you don't fancy getting something like Sky+, or just fancy using your console as a storage device for shows you want to keep.

Plug your TV aerial into the tuner and connect it to your PlayStation 3 via the USB cable provided. Instantly you'll be able to get more radio and TV channels than before, and you can even set recordings or play them back on your PSP as well.

Forza Motorsport 3: Limited Edition £17.93

Forza Motorsport 3 is quite possibly the the best racing game we've seen on the XBox 360 thus far. Over 400 fully customisable cars are present from 50 manufacturers, each in 10 times more detail than Forza Motorsport 2 – plus there's a whopping 100 tracks to try them out on as well.

Limitless levels of customisation and a higher level of realism than has ever been seen before combine and make this simply unmissable – a very excellent online multiplayer mode also helps improve the lastability factor too.

Click here to get the Forza Motorsport 3: Limited Edition set (which comes with a collector's keychain, 2GB USB thumbdrive, VIP membership status to the Forza Community and some exclusive additional cars) for £17.93 from Asda. Definitely one of the best cheap games of its type on the console today.

Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 £10.85

After proving a massive success across multiple platforms, it should come as no surprise to see a sequel to Marvel: Ultimate Alliance in the shape of Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 – I can imagine it took absolutely ages to come up with that title though!

The game features a whole range of different characters from the Marvel Comics universe, including old favourites like Spider-Man and Hulk, and the story follows two story arcs from the series' "Secret War" and "Civil War" (which should be recognisable to long-time fans).

MotorStorm: Pacific Rift £7.99

One of the best PS3 launch titles was MotorStorm, so it's not that much of a surprise to see a sequel appearing in the form of MotorStorm: Pacific Rift. What might be a little surprising is a move away from desert environments to interactive islands – but this ends up making for a much better experience anyway, which can only be a good thing.

All seven vehicles classes (bikes, ATVs, buggies, rally cars, racing trucks, mud pluggers, and big rigs) are back, and there's also now the option to race on monster trucks. Also, up to 12 players can compete against each other online across a total of 16 different tracks.

Left 4 Dead: Game of the Year Edition £9.99

Despite the fact that there is a sequel out, the team behind Left 4 Dead are adamant that they will still support the original – whether this turns out to be true or not remains to be seen (although more downloadable content did come out in 2009).

The Left 4 Dead: Game of the Year Edition contains a collection of new stuff to enjoy in an already fantastic title. Headlining this is the new Survival mode, along with a couple of additional Versus campaigns.

Pokemon Diamond £9.99

If you've not caught them all yet, Pokemon Diamond gives you another 493 different species of Pokemon to catch – some of which are exclusive to the region of Sinnoh, where the game is set.

You can also connect this with GameBoy Advance Pokemon titles after earning the National Pokedex, and with Pokemon Ranger to send a Manaphy egg. Pokemon can also be uploaded to Wii titles Pokemon Battle Revolution and My Pokemon Ranch.

Green Day: Rock Band £17.89

Green Day: Rock Band is the latest spin-off from the main music game series, and features a variety of different tracks from right across the band's career – meaning that you can now sing and play along with Billie Joe Armstrong and company.

A total of 47 songs are available, although it's a little surprising to note that there aren't going to be any extra tracks to download (though this could change in the future). All of "Dookie" and "American Idiot" are included, plus there's some 12 tracks from "21st Century Breakdown" too.

Tekken 6: Limited Edition £22.99

Tekken 6 expands upon an already successful formula ("if it ain't broke, don't fix it") by throwing in an online multiplayer mode – something which fans of the fighting series have been crying out for for quite some time now.

This Tekken 6: Limited Edition set contains a copy of the excellent game, a 100-page artbook created by the development team, a giant poster and a limited edition hoodie (which I think is white in colour).

If you fancy the XBox 360 version, click here to buy it for £22.99 from Powerplay Direct. PlayStation 3 gamers can click here to buy their release for the same price from the same retailer.
