With a new story overseen by character creator Mike Mignola and authentic voice-over work from the cast of the film, you would expect Hellboy: The Science Of Evil to be quite good – sadly it’s not.

This third-person game has an excellent combat system, but is badly let down by the sub-standard graphics and repetitive gameplay. At least you can join up with a friend online and play through the story that way, I suppose.

Click here to get this XBox 360 game for £29.99 from HMV.

Any way you look at it, the American version of Godzilla really wasn’t very good – the story was very weak, and the people in it (bar Jean Reno) were mis-cast. It’s good news then that Godzilla: Unleashed doesn’t feature anything from it, and instead focuses on the much better Japanese franchise.

This 3D fighting game is set during a series of unnatural disasters on Earth, where large crystals have appeared bringing with them the Vortaak alien race. Over 20 monsters are featured from different eras, along with a couple of brand new creatures (Krystalak and Obsidius).

If you fancy this PlayStation 2 title, click here to buy it for £9.99 from HMV.

Game Bargains

A range of Game bargains are available right now. Most are preorders, but under thirty quid for a title not yet out is pretty good.

Here they are in alphabetical order, for your convenience.

PS3

Bionic Commando £29.99
Ferrari Challenge £29.99
MotoGP 08 £29.99
PES 2008 (Pro Evolution Soccer) £17.99
Street Fighter 4 £29.99

XBox 360

Bionic Commando £29.99
Madden NFL 09 £29.99
MotoGP 08 £29.99
Street Fighter 4 £29.99

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 £17.99

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 is part prequel, part sequel. This is because events run both at the same time as Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Vegas and after that first game has concluded.

Team leader Logan Keller has been replaced by a character known as Bishop, who has more experience and is more deeply involved with the story. He can be customised before starting the campaign, and so can the person you control in the multiplayer mode – which is absolutely brilliant online.

Click here to get the XBox 360 version, or click here to buy the PlayStation 3 release – both of which are £17.99 each at Play.com.

Even though you can download new songs from the online SingStore, you can almost 100% guarantee that separate SingStar titles will still be released on the PS3 as well.

SingStar: Volume Two is, surprisingly enough, the second to appear on the next-generation console. There’s a couple of new features to be found (a new harmony duet mode and the ability to browse the SingStore via the PSP), as well as 30 more songs to sing.

Instore at Comet you can pick this up, with a couple of microphones, for £14.99. You can also get the other PlayStation 3 SingStar game (that we featured yesterday, but which has since disappeared online) for £9.99.

With Christmas ever approaching, I’m expecting the Wii to be out of stock almost everywhere soon – heck it’s happened the last two years, so chances are that it’ll happen again.

Anyway, to beat the rush it might be a good idea to get one now. Which means the appearance of this new deal is very welcome indeed.

Game have the Nintendo Wii, with a copy of Mario Kart Wii, priced at £179.99 (which basically means you get Mario Kart for free) – for more information, click here.

How lucky are we that there’s now a range of colours of Nintendo DS Lite available to us. In my day you got one colour and that was it – now you get (near enough) every colour of the rainbow!

Game currently have an offer where you can get a console with a choice of DS title for £99.99. The games to choose from are Cooking Mama 2, Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training: How Old Is Your Brain?, or Mario Kart DS.

Click here to see the full list of systems.

SingStar: Popworld £9.99

PlayStation 2 owners might not have a SingStore like you get with the PS3 versions of SingStar, but they do have a lot of different titles to choose from – many of which often appear for reasonable prices.

SingStar: Popworld contains another 30 songs for you to sing along to from artists which include Blink 182, McFly, Robbie Williams, and the Black Eyed Peas.

MotorStorm £7.99

With the sequel on the horizon (which you can get for £29.99 as part of the hot PlayStation 3 preorders we featured last month), now seems as good a time as any to pick up MotorStorm – especially at this price.

This racing game takes place at the fictional MotorStorm Festival in Monument Valley where you must win a series of off-road races to become the overall winner. Interestingly this title holds the world record for most amount of vehicles in a racing game, with a total of seven kinds available.

Click here to buy this game for the reduced price of £7.99 at The Game Collection. Cheap games like this are easy to recommend, as the online mode gives it extra life.
