Ghostbusters: The Video Game (PS2)    Ghostbusters: The Video Game (XBox 360)    Ghostbusters: The Video Game (PS3)

The long wait for Ghostbusters fans is over, as the long-awaited Ghostbusters: The Video Game has gone on to become the greatest title based on the franchise. And after Dan Akroyd initially announced this as being the nearest we'll ever get to Ghostbusters 3, rumors pop up that a genuine film is now in the works as well – happy days!

All four of the guys are back, but so too are some of their greatest villains (including the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man and the librarian from the start of the first film). You join the team as a new fifth member, and must help to save New York once more…

XBox 360 Elite Wireless Controller

If you've got an XBox 360 Elite console and you're after an additional controller, then the XBox 360 Elite Wireless Controller is exactly what you need. You don't need to be an Elite owner to get one either, it just looks better with it (they're the same colour, you see).

This is very much improved over the stupidly chunky original XBox design, which looked absolutely terrible. Buttons are nicely positioned, and the two joysticks are in equally decent places on the pad.

Amazon have this available for £17.99 – for more information, click here.

Wii Speak is a microphone accessory for the Nintendo Wii that can be placed near the video display to allow voice chat to be conducted with the entire room – the only drawback being that it will only work on a very select number of games at the moment.

Actually, only a total of eight games are compatible (including Animal Crossing: Let's Go to the City, The Conduit and Monster Hunter Tri), with The Grinder and The Conduit 2 planning to make full use of the device when they are released.

Need for Speed: Shift

Hell must have frozen over, because, believe it or not, there's been a Need for Speed title created that's actually very good – Need for Speed: Shift is probably one of the best racing games in 2009. I think I need a lie down!…

The change to simulation racing and realistic drifting from arcade racing has been a good decision, as the cars feel a lot better than before. The stupid "street racing" formula has been removed as well, with emphasis going on a true driving experience (why they couldn't have done it sooner, I don't know).

Invizimals (with PSP Go!Cam Camera and Trap)

Although the similarities with Pokemon are obvious (both have you capturing and raising different species of creatures in order to battle others), Invizimals requires you to hunt and capture creatures within the real world utilising the concept of augmented reality.

You'll need the PSP Go!Cam camera in order to play this, but thankfully there's a bundle available that includes this with a physical trap device which is used as a fiduciary marker.

To get Invizimals, with a PSP Go!Cam Camera and Trap, for £9.98 from Amazon, click here.

Aliens vs. Predator

Aliens vs. Predator is an action game which pits two of the most fearsome characters in cinematic history (Aliens and Predators, surprisingly enough) against one another – with a bunch of Colonial Marines caught in between them.

The three campaigns, one for each race/faction, have very different plots and gameplay elements, but combine together in one overarching storyline. A multiplayer mode is also included, which is pretty good fun at times (even if reviewers have criticised it somewhat).

Click here to get this XBox 360 title for £17.95 from Zavvi. Maybe not one of the best cheap games ever produced, but certainly something which fans of the franchise will enjoy a great deal.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is the sixth entry in the Call of Duty series, and has a storyline that serves as a direct sequel to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. To say that this was being hotly anticipated would be a huge understatement…

The single player campaign is not any longer than that in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, as the emphasis is on the multiplayer aspect – rightly so, as this is what gamers enjoy the most about the series. However, the new "Special Ops" mode is good fun either alone or with a friend.

Amazon are selling this XBox 360 game for £24.98 – click here for more details.

Way of the Samurai 3 (XBox 360)    Way of the Samurai 3 (PS3)

Way of the Samurai 3 is the third entry (surprise, surprise) in the Way of the Samurai series, but is relatively unknown outside of its native Japan. The fact that not too many Western reviewers have bothered to even mention this as being out might have something to do with this…

Anyway, you play as a nameless ronin who can choose to fight alongside good or evil during the tumultuous time of the Sengoku era, carving your name into history along the way. Though the graphics have been criticised somewhat, this shouldn't stop you from enjoying an excellent title from the same studio behind No More Heroes.

HMV have both the XBox 360 (click here) and PlayStation 3 (click here) releases available for £17.99 each.

The XBox 360 250GB Super Elite Console (With Five Games and Two Controllers) has many decent cheap games available for it    XBox 360 250GB Super Elite Console (With Five Games and Two Controllers)

While the now-standard 60gb XBox 360 Elite system is probably enough to satisfy casual gamers, those of us who enjoy the hobby a bit more will more than likely consider an upgrade to an XBox 360 250GB Super Elite console – being that it gives you just over four times the amount of hard drive space to play with.

Play.com currently have two different XBox 360 250GB Super Elite console (with five games and two controllers) bundles available for £239.99 each, with the first containing Fable II, Forza Motorsport 3, Final Fantasy XIII, Gears of War 2 and Halo 3:ODST – for more information, click here.

Click here to get the second option, which comes with Crackdown, Fable II, Forza Motorsport 3, Gears of War 2 and Halo 3:ODST.
