Cheap Games

Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust £6.76

Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust continues the themes found in other entries in the series, by including tons of humour, attractive women and suggestive themes – however, unlike Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude, there is no nudity or sexual content (sad times for all the perverts out there).

The plot is basically worthless, the game itself is one of the worst of its kind and you’ll probably end up using this disc as something more entertaining – but it is cheap, and I’m sure there are some easy achievement points to pick up.

If you fancy this XBox 360 title, click here to buy it for £6.76 from Amazon. Like I said, certainly not one of the best cheap games ever made, but one which will delight those who live for achievements.

Cooking Guide: Can’t Decide What To Eat? £7.99

Cooking Guide: Can’t Decide What To Eat? isn’t really a game, but rather a collection of different recipes from all over the world. It takes you through every step, from compiling a shopping list to step-by-step instructions on how to make your chosen meal – something very useful for the lazy out there.

Whilst not having the fun factor that the Brain Training games have, this is a heck of a lot more useful than they are. Being able to create tasty food beats having a big brain any day of the week!

Condemned £9.99

Condemned is a first-person survival horror game that places an added emphasis on melee combat and puzzle solving, including searching for fingerprints and gathering evidence. Think of it like Columbo, but with considerably more carnage!

This is actually considered so violent that all copies were removed from sale in Germany at the start of 2008, although they did that to Mortal Kombat as well – which seems rather tame these days in comparison.

Beijing 2008 £9.73

Any title based on the Olympics has been a button-basher forever, I’m pretty certain. This means that you either get knackered after about half an hour, or come out with stupid ways to push the buttons faster – I’m sure everyone has tried using a coin or a pen lid.

Beijing 2008 has a new addition which makes it miles better than any other Olympic video game from the past though, in the form of an online multiplayer mode. Now you can get golds for old Blighty in every event, in a virtual sense anyway!

Littlest Pet Shop: Winter £7.87

Littlest Pet Shop: Winter is one of three different titles available for the DS which are based on the Littlest Pet Shop franchise. Being that this has always been something aimed at kids, it’s fair to say that the video game is as well (unsurprisingly).

Collect and play with over 20 animals by completing 16 puzzles and minigames – which will also unlock some additional accessories and playsets. Exciting stuff, I think you’ll agree…

Scribblenauts £18.63

Although writing the name of an object on the screen in order to solve puzzles, and in turn win "Starites", sounds relatively easy, trust me when I say it isn’t – which makes the forthcoming release of DS title Scribblenauts something to look forward to.

There’s unlimited replay value with this as well, because each level has more than one written object to use as a solution. The novelty value alone makes this a game that you’d be mad to miss…

Guitar Hero III: Legends Of Rock (With Wireless Guitar) £29.99

Without question, the Guitar Hero series needs next to no introduction – every single title thus far has been well worth getting, and I have no doubts that future games will be just as excellent (although I have my reservations about the expensive DJ Hero).

Guitar Hero III: Legends Of Rock, with a wireless guitar, is the first to appear on the Wii – and what a debut it is. With some great tunes to rock out to, plus a brilliant online multiplayer mode, this is top drawer entertainment.

Namco Museum: Virtual Arcade £9.99

Namco Museum: Virtual Arcade is a collection of over 30 classic arcade games, including such greats as the original Pac-Man and Dig Dug. Three of them (Dig Dug, Galaga and Pac-Man) also come with new arrangements, in the form of improved graphics and fun gameplay.

Please note that this comes with two sets of games – the first includes XBox Live Arcade titles which need to be downloaded (free of charge), whilst the second has 22 games that are available to play straight away.

If you fancy this XBox 360 title, click here to buy it for £9.99 from Play.com.

Beijing 2008 From £7.50

Button-bashers may seem like a thing of the past, but rest assured that any game based on the Olympics will more than likely persist with using the method until the end of time. So that’ll mean one more then (if the nutters who think the world will end in 2012 are somehow right).

Beijing 2008 features 32 national teams and a total of 38 different events to compete in, and for the very first time you can also play online – something that’s been a long time in coming, I can tell you.

Click here to get the XBox 360 version for £7.50 from Amazon, or click here to buy the PlayStation 3 release for £9.73 from The Hut.

FIFA 09 £9.99

I’m starting to sound like a broken record when I say that FIFA is – for the first time – head and shoulders above Pro Evolution Soccer, but it’s worth repeating again in the hope that Konami take notice (although by the looks of PES 2010, they haven’t)!

FIFA 09 plays much better and feels more realistic than ever before, and has a raft of very good new features. Goalkeepers have been improved, "Be A Pro" is longer than in previous titles, weather effects look great, and the user-controlled celebrations are as good as they were in UEFA Euro 2008.
