Cheap Games

Deary, deary me. I’ve ranted about how bad The Golden Compass game is many times before on this site, but still it keeps on appearing – to be honest, the only reason I mention it is that I’m aware some kids may like it.

For anyone over the age of seven or eight I’ll say avoid this like Frank Lampard avoids a diet, but everyone else will probably get at least a little bit of enjoyment out of it.

If you wish to subject yourself to the horrors this title will bring, click here to buy the Wii version for £9.99 from SoftUK.

Bomberman Land sees you trying to battle your way to the top to try and save Bomberman Land. I’m presuming this is where all the Bombermen live, but then again it could just be some sort of theme park (actually, looking at the blurb I’m pretty sure that’s EXACTLY what it is).

You’ll be glad to know this comes packed with tons of mini-games, which everybody loves. Actually they don’t, but companies keep sticking them in anyway.

Click here to buy the PSP version of this game for £10.99, or click here for the Wii release (which is £14.99) – both are in stock at HMV.

DS owners might like to know that Bomberman Land Touch! (which is part of the ongoing Gamestation sale) and Bomberman Land Touch! 2 are still available for decent prices.

The Snow Queen Quest £6.93

Games aimed at children are usually very simple affairs – so simple, in fact, that even someone as stupid as me can pick up and play them. And that’s saying something.

The Snow Queen Quest, on the PlayStation 2, is one of these titles. Play alone or with a friend and solve puzzles in order to get into the castle and destory the Snow Queen’s power. The Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian this ain’t, but kids will enjoy it.

Asda have this game available for the bargain price of £6.93 – for more information, click here.

Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga 2 £8.93

Ever wondered what it might be like when you’ve popped your clogs and gone to visit the big bearded one in the sky (no, I’m not talking about David Bellamy)? If it’s anything like it is in Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga 2, I’ll be hoping that immortality will be bestowed upon me.

Battle your way through over 40 hours of gameplay to try and get your way out the afterlife equivalent of a weekend in Blackpool. You can also use your saved data from the first Digital Devil Saga game to unlock fancy bonus stuff.

Alternatively, the Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga 2 (Collector’s Edition) is still available for a decent price and comes with some extra goodies like a soundtrack CD and art cards.

Bomberman Land Touch! 2 £14.99

I can remember back when Bomberman was just a great little game where you had to blow up blocks in order to get the chance to blow up other Bombermen – how times have changed!

Bomberman Land Touch! 2 is almost identical to the original (which is still a part of the Gamestation sale, incidentally) in that it has tons of mini-games, along with the more traditional Battle mode.

In order to get this DS title for £14.99 from HMV, all you have to do is click right here!

Lost Odyssey £19.49

Lost Odyssey is the age old tale of an immortal (think Highlander, but without the chopping off of heads) who’s lived for so long that he’s forgotten his past – a bit like Bruce Forsyth, who celebrates his 256th birthday this year.

With the most breathtaking scenery this side of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, this is probably one of the best visual experience you can have on your XBox 360.

If you enjoyed Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 in the arcades (or even Mortal Kombat 3 on your SNES!), then you’ll definitely like Ultimate Mortal Kombat on the DS – it’s a completely faithful and accurate recreation of it for the small screen.

Not only can you fight other players anywhere else in the world via the wireless network, but you also get the Puzzle Kombat game included as well (which can also be played online) – it’s a little bit like Monster Bomber, in a way.

The Game Collection are selling this game for £6.99 – click here for more details.

Fatal Inertia has been out on the XBox 360 for some time now, so a PlayStation 3 release has been a little bit overdue.

Click here to preorder this PS3 game for £29.99 from ShopTo.

There’s so many Pokemon game available, I wonder if anyone will ever genuinely catch them all? And how many are there now anyway – I lost count a long time ago!

Pokemon Pearl has ne online capabilities which enable you to share and battle pokemon all over the world. Handily, you can also import all the pokemon you’ve caught in the GameBoy Advance titles.

Over the years, wrestling video games have gone the same way as football games and become better and better. Although there’s no huge improvement over the last one, there’s enough in WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2008 to sustain interest.

Not only do get the usual updated roster (which is slightly outdated now), but ECW superstars and arenas are included as well as enhanced online community support.

Click here to get the PSP release for £9.99 from CD-WOW, or click here for the PlayStation 3 version (which is £15.99 at Choices UK).
