It’s easy to criticise Nintendo’s treatment of the Wii – not anticipating the huge demand and failing to provide many top-notch games are very stupid moves indeed. However, they have succeeded in giving gamers (old and young, new and experienced) an exciting new way to play.

If you’re in the market for one, you probably can’t do better than the deal currently running instore at Toys R Us.

For £169.99 you not only get the console (which comes with Wii Sports, a Wii Remote and a Wii Nunchuk), but a copy of Super Fruitfall as well.

The Bourne Conspiracy £19.98

After featuring the XBox 360 version of The Bourne Conspiracy a couple of days ago, it was inevitable that the PlayStation 3 release would appear at a reduced price sooner rather than later.

As I said previously, hopes were high that this would rival the Bourne novels and films in terms of excellence – sadly it doesn’t. Although not the worst game ever made, it’s far from being a strongly recommended purchase.

PlayStation 2 (With Game) £49.99

Even though you can now get a PlayStation 3, there’s still a huge variety of top-notch PS2 titles available. With Sony stupidly removing backwards compatibility from the PS3, you have to get a PlayStation 2 console to be able to play these great games (you can even play PS1 titles on it as well).

If you’re interested in getting one, you may want to check out your local Toys R Us store as they are running a couple of decent deals.

For £49.99 you can get a PlayStation 2 with either The Simpsons Game or Buzz! Junior: Monster Rumble (which includes four buzzers) – both of which are decent.

One of the greatest ideas for a game in recent years has to have been Guitar Hero – OK it’s nothing like playing a real guitar, but it makes you feel like you are. Sort of.

Guitar Hero III is the latest in the series, and the very first to appear on the PlayStation 3 and Wii. With some great tunes to play along to, it may very well be the best of the bunch as well.

Amazon have the various different console versions available for good prices – click here to get the PS2 release for £29.97, or click here for the Wii version (which is £39.97). The PS3 (click here) and XBox 360 (click here) releases are slightly more expensive, coming in at £44.97 each.

Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai £4.93

If you’re a Dragon Ball Z fan and a PSP owner, then you’ll probably be interested in Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai. Not only can you battle the console, but you can also take on your friends over the wireless network.

With a choice of over 18 different characters to choose from and a total of seven game modes, you’re sure to get a fair amount of replay value out of this as well.

Click here to buy this game for just £4.93 from The Hut.

If you’re the owner of either an Arcade or Core XBox 360 console and would like some space to save stuff on, consider the XBox 360 20GB Hard Drive. This is the one that comes with the Premium system, so if you have it (or the Elite) this will be useless to you.

The advantages to having a hard drive for your 360 are obvious – not only do you not have to worry about space for saved game data, but you can also hop onto XBox Live and download games. Ace!

Game have this price at £39.99. However if you enter the voucher code T5J194MZX at the checkout, you get £5 off – bringing the price down to £34.99.

If you fancy this, click here to get it.

If you like racing games like Extreme-G, F-Zero or Wipeout then you may very well enjoy Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity as well – it’s basically the same idea (speed, massive speed) but with Sonic characters to choose from.

With over 60 different vehicles to control, and three exciting multiplayer modes (no online though, for shame), you’ll get loads of play out of this title.

Click here to buy this Wii game for £10.99 from ShopTo.

PlayStation 2 owners may be interested to learn that they can get this for a whole lot less (£4.99 to be exact) as part of the supposedly-finished sale at Game.

As with almost every other movie-related game, Spider-Man 3 is incredibly average. My prayers may have been answered in regards to a decent film tie-in appearing though – the next James Bond game looks excellent (fingers crossed, eh?).

Kids will love this PlayStation 3 game as it’s very easy to control and not to difficult to complete either. If you’re a fan of the films (or comic books even) then you’ll probably enjoy it a little as well.

Instore at Toys R Us you can get this title for £9.99.

Conan £8

Oh dear. Conan really isn’t one of those cheap games I can recommend on any level – it’s just really not that good. Well, if you like "hack and slash" titles you may get some enjoyment out of it I suppose.

The films are quite good as well. Although saying that, the acting in them was not exactly of the highest quality – poor old Arnie has never been one for talking (which is odd when you consider his current job!).

Pop in to your local Zavvi and pick up this PS3 game for £8, if you dare!
