Cheap Games

Hour Of Victory £9.92

Hour Of Victory is another first person shooter – sadly though, this is one of those cheap games that I wouldn’t even recommend to my worst enemy. It’s like a very bad imitation of Call Of Duty.

You fight in Europe and North Africa during World War II, which sounds as original as sliced bread. There’s an online multiplayer mode, but chances are high that you’ll find more people playing S.A.S. Combat on the Amiga than you will this game.

Click here if you wish to subject yourself to the torture of this XBox 360 title, and exchange £9.92 to get it from Blah DVD.

2000 Wii Points Card £11.97

There were lots of good ideas behind the Wii, such as the controls and price, but the one that stood out was the Virtual Console. The ability to download classic games (for a price) is simply fantastic.

To get these games you need points, which you can either pay for using a credit card or by buying a 2000 Wii Points Card. These can also be exchanged for the Internet Channel (bit pointless, if you ask me) or Wii Software titles.

Tesco are selling this card for £11.97 – for more information, click here (and remember to enter the voucher code Freedel at the checkout to get free delivery).

Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures £16.99

Whoever came up with the idea of turning well-known film franchises into Lego video games should get a medal – they’re simply excellent fun that everyone can enjoy. Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures is the latest release, and remember to look out for Lego Batman later this year as well.

All your favourite scenes from the first three Indiana Jones films are present and correct, all in the comical way that Lego games do it. Additionally, as you could mix and match characters in the Lego Star Wars series, you can the same thing in this game – with some hilarious results!

Click here to buy the DS version for £16.99 from SoftUK.

Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire Of The Rift £17.92

Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire Of The Rift is a tactics and strategy game with battles, missions, swords and sorcery – all set in the popular Final Fantasy series universe.

There’s a load to do, as there’s more than 300 missions and side quests to complete – this version also has additional touchscreen functionality not found in the original Japanese release.

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII £17.92

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, which is a PSP exclusive, delves deeper into the story behind arguably one of the greatest games of all time – Final Fantasy VII.

If you’re a glutton for punishment, there’s an all-new "Hard Mode" which wasn’t available on the Japanese version. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? I’ll say good…

Click here to get this title for £17.92 from Blah DVD.

People throw about the term "addictive" quite a bit, but I think many would agree that the Football Manager series is one game you can never get enough of. Marriages have even ended because of it!

To describe Football Manager 2008 in plain English, it’s basically a football simulation – you choose the team that plays, what coaches to hire and fire, etc. but you don’t physically control the players like in FIFA 08 or Pro Evolution Soccer.

The Hut currently have this XBox 360 game available for £14.93 – click here for more details.

SingStar £9.99

The PlayStation 3 version of SingStar is slightly different from its PS2 counterparts, in that you can now download extra songs to sing along to from the SingStore. Each additional track will cost you 99p, which is fairly reasonable actually.

There’s 30 tracks on the disc from artists such as Britney Spears, Blink 182 and The Killers – if you’re really daring, you can even share videos of your "singing" with the SingStar community. Heavens to Betsy!

Click here to bag this game for £9.99 from ShopTo – I should also point out that you’ll need to get the microphones to play this, although you can also use the ones from the PS2 SingStar titles.

NHL 2K8 £9.99

Ice hockey always seems like such a fun sport – can’t imagine anything better than skating around a rink with a big stick, lamping blokes who get on your nerves. It’s only when things like what happened to Clint Malarchuk (video is very nasty, you have been warned!) occur that it looks like a wise decision not to take part.

The video games of the sport have always included the violence bits, and NHL 2K8 is no different. With new controls and goaltending, a ground breaking face-off system and great graphics, this is the best of the 2K series ever.

In order to get this XBox 360 title for £9.99 from Powerplay Direct, all you have to do is click right here.

If you’re a PS2 or PS3 owner, you can get NHL 2K8 for the slightly higher price of £14.99.
