Pokemon Diamond

If you’ve caught all the pokemon so far, I’ve got some bad news for you - there’s more to catch. In Pokemon Diamond you have a new batch of the annoying little critters to try and round up.

A good addition in this title is the ability to share and battle pokemon all over the world, thanks to the wireless network. Another great option is to be able to import all the pokemon you’ve caught from GameBoy Advance games - boosting your squad quite handsomely, I would think.

Choices UK have this DS game available for £14.99 - click here for more details.

Pokemon Pearl

Nintendo seem to release two pokemon games at the same time (I wonder why - money perhaps?) every year, and this is no exception. Pokemon Pearl has a different set of pokemon for you to catch.

Everything else is basically the same as Pokemon Diamond, but you can also connect with players of the other game - meaning that you don’t necessarily have to buy both. Which is nice.

Choices UK also have DS title this available for £14.99 - click here for more details.

You might like to know that when you order either of these cheap games you get a free pokemon stylus pen and dangler. It’s not the world’s best freebie, but I’m not complaining!

Guitar Hero: Rocks The 80s

Big hair bands were all the rage in the 80s, so if you were (or still are) a fan then Guitar Hero: Rocks The 80s could be just the game for you. Leather pants not included.

To make the most out of this title, I’d strongly advise getting the guitar accessory as it adds a whole new dimension to the game. Indeed, if you don’t already have one you can currently pick up Guitar Hero III: Legends Of Rock (with a wireless guitar) for £44.71 from Tesco.

Instore at HMV you can currently buy this PlayStation 2 title for £13.99.

NASCAR 08

With a next-generation console you would expect next-generation graphics and next-generation gameplay, so when developers drop the ball it’s very disappointing (I’m looking at you Iron Man and Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer!).

Such is the case with NASCAR 08 on the PS3 - the graphics would have looked out of place in 1996, never mind 2008. The cars handle like a 1946 Lada as well, which doesn’t help.

Top Trumps: Doctor Who

I’ll be honest and say that I’m not entirely sure that Top Trumps is an ideal candidate for getting turned into a video game - I mean, it’s basically a "mine’s bigger than yours" card game!

Anyway, Top Trumps: Doctor Who takes this simple idea and combines it with the good Doctor. Would Brannigan beat Novice Hame in a cat-fight? Is the Dalek Emperor more monstrous than the Family of Blood’s scarecrow soldiers, or will the Ood beat them all? Find out by playing this!

If you fancy this DS title, click here to get it for £17.97 from Woolworths.

Turning Point: Fall Of Liberty

Turning Point: Fall Of Liberty sees you playing the part of a resistance fighter in a first-person shooter than is quite different from the norm - part World War II shooter, part alternative history examination.

I say alternative history as the story is based around what would have happened if Winston Churchill had died after being run over by a taxi in 1931. Basically, we would have been up shit creek without a paddle.

Click here to buy the PS3 version of this game for £19.99 from Woolworths - XBox 360 owners can get their version for the slightly cheaper price of £17.99 as part of the more reduced games at Choices UK deal.

Sony PlayStation 3 DualShock 3 Wireless Controller

The original controller that came with the PlayStation 3 had the rumble feedback removed, for reasons only known to whatever idiot decided it was a good idea at Sony. Thankfully they’ve rectified this mistake with the Sony PlayStation 3 DualShock 3 Wireless Controller.

It’s basically the same as the previous one, but here’s an interesting fact for you - did you know that the PS3 can support up to seven controllers at one time? Well you do now!

Amazon are currently selling this for £29.99 - for more information, click here.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers Of Darkness is one of those cheap games worth having in your collection

Imagine actually being a Pokemon - quite terrifying, isn’t it? Well in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers Of Darkness you can actually live out this fantasy, although only in a virtual sense (of course).

You get pretty much what you expect from any Pokemon game in this, but with the added Friend Rescue option - this means that if you faint you can send an SOS message via the wireless network to someone else who has a copy, and they can come and rescue you. How nice.

Super Smash Brothers: Brawl

Beating up Mario sounds like a good way to pass the time, as does pummeling Pickachu (the annoying little twerp). Thank goodness then that Super Smash Brothers: Brawl lets you do these things and a whole lot more.

Fight against your favourite Nintendo characters, as well as some special guests, in some beautiful arenas. After you’re through battering the computer, take it online and beat your friends to a virtual bloody pulp.

Kingdom Under Fire: Circle Of Doom

Why oh why do developers start messing about with things that already work perfectly well? The Kingdom Under Fire series has traditionally been action real-time strategy based - however, Kingdom Under Fire: Circle Of Doom is a hack and slash RPG. Not a good idea.

I suppose that the ability to join up with friends over XBox Live is a nice addition, but it’s really not enough to warrant a purchase. If you’re a fan of the series you may want to take a look though.

Bioshock

In amongst the seemingly endless supply of first-person shooters lies one of the best games of 2007, Bioshock. This XBox 360 exclusive title succeeds where others fail by being unpredictable and exciting, something sorely lacking in many modern-day games.

As you venture through the game, you must genetically modify your body in order to advance - at this point I should warn the squeamish that some of the abilities you get are quite disgusting. You have been warned!

The Game Collection have reduced the price of this title to £9.95 - click here for more details.
