Resistance 2 £14.95

When the PlayStation 3 launched in 2006, Resistance: Fall Of Man quickly became one of the best first-person shooters on the market. Nearly two years later, its sequel has arrived in the form of Resistance 2.

Nathan Hale travels to the United States in order to once again battle the Chimera, who have launched a full scale invasion of both the East and West coasts. This time out he’s a member of a special task force of soldiers called "The Sentinels", who, like him, are resistant to the Chimeran virus.

Race Driver: Grid £8.99

Although the Project Gotham Racing and Gran Turismo series’ have been ahead of the pack for some time, there’s a new contender on the scene in the form of Race Driver: Grid – and it’s quite possibly better than both of them.

It’s a hybrid of arcade and simulation racing, and comes with a total of 43 different vehicles to choose from. A brilliant innovation is the instant replay feature which lets you rewind time by 1o seconds, allowing you to see in real-time any moments that you deem worthy of seeing again.

PES 2008: Pro Evolution Soccer £4.98

The Wii version of PES 2008: Pro Evolution Soccer is radically different from all other console releases, and has been designed to make full use of the unique features of the Wii Remote. At first it seems difficult and confusing, but after a time it becomes second nature (honestly, you’ll wonder how you ever played a normal footy game!).

This is also the only copy to include 30 stadiums to compete in, as well as the best online experience out of the many versions to be found on the market. You can also use your Miis in friendly matches, if that sounds like your sort of thing.

Fallout 3 – The Pitt And Operation: Anchorage Add-On Pack £8.37

Although there is a forthcoming Fallout 3: Game Of The Year Edition release which will contain all of the downloadable content available thus far, owners of the original XBox 360 title will perhaps be better off buying retail packs – saves buying the same game twice, for one thing.

The Fallout 3 – The Pitt and Operation: Anchorage add-on pack contains the first two bundles. Operation: Anchorage takes place as a virtual reality "military simulation" where you’re stripped of all equipment, and The Pitt allows you to journey to the industrial raider town known as The Pitt (funnily enough).

Click here to buy this for £8.37 from Amazon, but please note that you will need a copy of Fallout 3 to be able to play these.

Devil May Cry 4 £7.99

Devil May Cry 4 marks the first appearance of the series on the XBox 360. It’s actually very entertaining, and I must say that the graphics are very nice as well.

You control both the main character (Nero) and our regular hero from the other Devil Mar Cry titles, Dante. Lady and Trish from previous games make appearances, and there’s also four new characters to contend with too.

Play.com have this game available for £7.99 – for more information, click here.

Halo Wars £14.98

In a departure from the other entries in the Halo series, Halo Wars is a real-time strategy game instead of the regular first-person shooter. Thankfully Ensemble Studios have acknowledged that many other genre titles often fell short upon their console release, so they built the game specifically for the XBox 360 controller.

The campaign mode sees you command the armies of the UNSC warship "Spirit Of Fire", consisting of familiar and new UNSC units in its initial encounters against the Covenant, an alien coalition threatening to destroy mankind – if this isn’t enough to satisfy you, then take the battle online against other players across the globe.

Pikmin (New Play Control!) £9.99

Pikmin is a real-time strategy game which sees you control a character known as Captain Olimar from a third-person perspective. Olimar is, in turn, followed by some small creatures known as Pikmin whom he directs in order to recover ship parts.

Originally appearing on the GameCube, this has been re-released on the Wii as Pikmin (New Play Control!). It features improved graphics, a brand new control scheme that makes full use of the Wii Remote, and the ability to save on a day-by-day basis.

If you fancy this, click here to buy it for £9.99 from Argos.

The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess £19.99

Even though it was a launch title, The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess is still easily one of the best single player games on the Wii. Although not as great as Ocarina Of Time (which will probably never be surpassed), it’s still well worth adding to your collection.

The Wii Remote is used as a sword, and the Wii Nunchuk is used as the shield – it takes a little getting used to, but becomes quite natural after a while. The epic storyline will also keep you entertained throughout, and I’m sure that you’ll also love the fishing bits (which are incredibly addictive, for some reason).

Argos are selling this title for £19.99 – click here for more details.

Condemned 2 £7.98

Condemned 2 is the sequel to one of the very first XBox 360 games, Condemned: Criminal Origins. This is fairly similar to it, except there’s an all-new online multiplayer mode to take advantage of.

Track down sadistic serial killers and serve out justice the only way you know how – by getting the scum off the streets. Sounds very much like the sort of game players of the Grand Theft Auto series and first-person shooters will enjoy.
