Sony PSP 3000 (With FIFA 09) £127.22

Although the Nintendo DS has a much better catalogue of games available for it, the PSP isn’t all that bad – it’s sort of like a portable PlayStation One, which can also interact with your PS3. Plus the Sony PSP 3000 comes with a built-in microphone and improved screen, so it’s slightly better than previous models.

FIFA 09 is the latest, and probably greatest, of the football series to hit the small screen. For the very first time you can now play the "Be A Pro" mode on your handheld, which allows you to follow the career of one player over the course of a few seasons.

Click here to get the Sony PSP 3000, with FIFA 09, for £127.22 from Amazon.

Nintendo Wii £157

Some might criticise the Wii for just being a gimmick, but there’s no debating the fact that it’s got people who would never had played a game before playing – which can only be a good thing.

There’s not too many A-list titles available for it at the moment, so hardcore gamers might be a little disappointed. Super Mario Galaxy and The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess are both excellent though!

Instore at Asda you can currently get a Nintendo Wii console (which comes with a Wii Remote and a copy of Wii Sports) for £157.

Honeycomb Beat £4.99

Puzzle games are plentiful on the DS, which is understandable due to its portability and the pick up and play aspect most puzzlers have. Honeycomb Beat is a highly addictive and mind-bending title which aims to challenge even the most brainiest of individuals.

"Beat" a honeycomb tile to turn it and the tiles surrounding it over and change its colour in order to solve the puzzles, and unlock stuff as you advance. Over 200 different puzzles mean that you’ll keep coming back to this time and again.

New Zealand Story: Revolution £3.95

New Zealand Story sees you controlling a sneaker-clad kiwi called Tiki, and the object of the game is to rescue several of his kiwi chick friends who have been kidnapped by a leopard seal.

I’m old enough to remember the original on the Amiga, so I’m glad to report that New Zealand Story: Revolution on the DS updates it whilst staying true to its roots. New additions include a four player wireless mode, two difficulty levels, and vastly improved graphics.

Click here to get this title for only £3.95 from The Game Collection.

WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2009 From £17.73

It’s fair to say that in recent years WWE titles haven’t really changed that much. WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2009 still looks fairly similar, but if you look beneath the bonnet you’ll discover there’s more to do than ever before.

An updated roster, with new outfits and gimmicks, is a given – it’s everything else that’s of importance here though. For the first time ever you can compete in an Inferno match (where fire surrounds the ring), the tag team matches have been completely revamped, and there are four new game modes (Create-A-Finisher, Road to WrestleMania, Career, and a multiplayer season).

The Hut are selling the PlayStation 2 version for £17.73 – click here for more details. The same retailer has the DS release (click here) at the same price, whilst over at Amazon you can pick up the PS3 version for £18.49 by clicking here.

Nintendo DS Lite Guitar Hero: On Tour Bundle £104.05

With a great catalogue of games, the Nintendo DS is easily the best handheld console available today. Another decent bonus is that you can also play GameBoy Advance titles on it – although the new DSi will be dropping this feature, for some reason.

Guitar Hero: On Tour brings the thrill and enjoyment of playing a guitar with four buttons to the small, small screen. A great selection of songs to play along to makes for hours of fun, but you may get a bit pissed off with the Guitar Grip (it’s a bit difficult to hold at times).

Click here to buy the Nintendo DS Lite Guitar Hero: On Tour bundle for £119.71 from Tesco, who knock off a bit more due to lower VAT. But wait, as we can get it even lower than that – simply enter the voucher XXC7NM at the checkout to get £13 off, bringing the total to £104.05.

PlayStation 3 (With Three Games) £299.99

With sales of the console lagging some way behind the XBox 360, you’d expect Sony to potentially announce a price cut – they haven’t, but many retailers (online anyway) have decided to bundle it with at least a couple of games.

The obvious reason why Microsoft are shifting more units is that it’s now pretty darn cheap to get an Arcade system, although I think that the recent advertising campaign may have helped sway parents towards it for Christmas.

Click here to buy a PlayStation 3, with three games, for £299.99 from Play.com. FIFA 09, Little Big Planet, and MotorStorm: Pacific Rift are the three excellent titles included, by the way.

FIFA 09 £18.99

The Wii release of FIFA 09 is identical to the other console versions, except that it also includes an exclusive "Footi Match" mode – this is a mini-game kind of deal, where you play an arcade game of football with Mii characters (there’s also a few recognisable faces available to choose from as well).

Graphics-wise this isn’t anywhere close to matching the PS3 or XBox 360, but it looks quite good all the same. All the leagues and other modes found on other versions are here too, along with a couple of extra stadiums (like the Seoul World Cup Stadium and Galatasaray’s ground).

The Game Collection have this priced at £18.99 – for more information, click here.

Ace Combat 6: Fires Of Liberation £9.99

Ace Combat 6: Fires Of Liberation follows the fictional war between the Republic of Emmeria and the Federal Republic of Estovakia on the Anean continent, north of Yuktobania. You take on the role of an Emmerian pilot and squadron leader who must batlle in the air against enemy forces.

The graphics in this deserve special mention, as they look simply stunning – to the untrained eye you could almost believe that you really were involved in aerial combat! Also, with a decent online multiplayer mode you’re sure to go back to this one time and again.

If you fancy this XBox 360 game, click here to get it for £9.99 from Play.com.
