Cheap Games

Forza Motorsport 3 is quite possibly the the best racing game we've seen on the XBox 360 thus far. Over 400 fully customisable cars are present from 50 manufacturers, each in 10 times more detail than Forza Motorsport 2 – plus there's a whopping 100 tracks to try them out on as well.

Limitless levels of customisation and a higher level of realism than has ever been seen before combine and make this simply unmissable – a very excellent online multiplayer mode also helps improve the lastability factor too.

Halo 3: ODST is an expansion pack for the first-person shooter Halo 3. Originally this was going to be an add-on for Halo 3, but developers Bungie have instead decided to make it a stand-alone title (which means you don't need to already own Halo 3 in order to play) – much to the irritation of gamers who believed that it would possibly be available as downloadable content.

Although bearing a strong resemblance to other entries in the Halo series, in this one you don't play as Master Chief – you are in control of a lone Orbital Drop Ship Trooper in the city of New Mombasa, East African Protectorate (formerly Kenya).

The Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition is one of the best cheap games on the XBox 360

As far as action role-playing games go, it's fair to say that Fallout 3 is definitely one of the best – and with this Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition, it's even bigger and longer than before now as well (impressive, when you consider it was 60+ hours originally!).

This contains the game, along with all five downloadable content packs that have been released. "Operation: Anchorage", "The Pitt", "Broken Steel", "Point Lookout" and "Mothership Zeta" are all very worthwhile additions to an already fantastic experience.

Although Wii Sports is bundled with every Wii console, it's actually a very good game in its own right – which makes the arrival of a sequel, in the shape of Wii Sports Resort, absolutely no surprise at all. I'm just surprised it took so long to come out!

A total of 12 different activities are represented, with golf, bowling and boxing making repeat appearances from the original. Of the new sports, canoeing and basketball are perhaps the most fun – though the others are great too, especially in multiplayer.

Simply Games are selling Wii Sports Resort, with Wii MotionPlus, for £23.85 – click here for more details.

Aliens vs. Predator (PS3)    Aliens vs. Predator (XBox 360)

Aliens vs. Predator is an action game which pits two of the most fearsome characters in cinematic history (Aliens and Predators, surprisingly enough) against one another – with a bunch of Colonial Marines caught in between them.

The three campaigns, one for each race/faction, have very different plots and gameplay elements, but combine together in one overarching storyline. A multiplayer mode is also included, which is pretty good fun at times (even if reviewers have criticised it somewhat).

Batman: Arkham Asylum - Game of the Year Edition (XBox 360)    Batman: Arkham Asylum - Game of the Year Edition (PS3)

Batman: Arkham Asylum is without question the very best Batman video game ever made – and is also one of the very best full stop to be released in 2009 (which is impressive, when you consider it was up against stiff competition in the form of Modern Warfare 2 and Uncharted 2).

Anyway, the Batman: Arkham Asylum – Game of the Year Edition not only comes with the excellent full game, but all of the downloadable content as well. There's also a brand new 3D mode included plus two pairs of glasses to get the most out of this interesting addition.

Heavy Rain

Being billed as an interactive drama might bring back some bad memories (step forward The X-Files Game and anything on the 3DO), but Heavy Rain manages to be that rarest of things – a diamond in amongst a genre filled with what can only be called absolute shit.

The story centres around four protagonists who are involved with the mystery of the Origami Killer, a serial killer who uses extended periods of heavy rainfall to drown his victims. Decisions and actions that you make will affect the narrative – main characters can be killed, and different scenes will appear depending on what you choose to do…

Super Smash Brothers: Brawl

For the first time in Super Smash Brothers history, Super Smash Brothers: Brawl lets you not only fight with Nintendo characters but with some third-party characters as well. I won't spoil it by telling you who's included – what I will say is that a certain bloke with a fascination for boxes and guns is one of them…

Like its predecessors the object of the game is to knock an opponent off the screen, and, in a departure from other fighting titles, has a simplified control scheme which makes it easy for anyone to play. The single-player mode has been expanded, and you can now also compete with other fighters across the globe via the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.

Red Steel 2    Red Steel 2 (with Wii MotionPlus)

Red Steel 2 is the sequel to the somewhat disappointing Red Steel 2 – though this has turned out to be one of those cheap games that is head and shoulders above the original (which isn't too difficult, to be honest).

Played in a first-person perspective where you can alternate between shooting and sword fighting, you take on the role of The Swordsman – one of the last surviving members of the Kusagari-clan…

Click here to get the game by itself for £13.97, or click here to get Red Steel 2, with the Wii MotionPlus accessory, for £17.97 – both of which come supplied by Amazon.
