Black Nintendo Wii Deals

The fact that you can get various colours of DS consoles meant that it was inevitable we would see the same happen with the Wii – such is the case with the new black Wii. It's exactly the same as the standard model, it's just that everything in the box comes in black instead of white.

There are a couple of black Nintendo Wii deals running this weeked at Game. First off you can get a system with Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort and the Motion Plus accessory for £149.99.

The other offer is the console with Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort, Super Smash Brothers: Brawl, New Super Mario Brothers and the Motion Plus accessory for £179.99 – for more information on both, click here.

Cooking Mama £4.98

Cooking Mama is a cookery styled-simulation mini-game compilation for the DS. In it you are tasked with cooking various meals using the touch screen – with the stylus being used to chop vegetables, slice meat, flip food in pans, and arrange the final items on the plate.

Though slightly repetitive in areas, this is certainly challenging enough to warrant taking a look at. Three game modes also ensure that you won't be stuck for anything to do once the main recipes have been completed.

If you fancy this, click here to buy it for £4.98 from Gameplay.

Mass Effect £7.99

If you're looking for a game that has a compelling storyline and a decent amount of gameplay time, then look no further than Mass Effect. This XBox 360 exclusive is also one of the best games still available on the console, even with a sequel on the way.

You uncover the greatest threat the civilisation has ever known – but sadly nobody believes you. Travelling across an expansive universe to piece the mystery together, you discover that the universe is about to come to a violent end and your team may be the only ones to stop it!

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen £15

Although it's not the best Transformers game ever made (that would be the one based on the animated series for the PlayStation 2), Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is certainly the best-looking of the series – it's also 100 times better than the car crash that was Transformers: The Video Game.

Loosely following the plot of the movie, this allows you to play through two campaigns – one as the Autobots, and another as the Decepticons. A pretty decent multiplayer mode is also included, which contains five different challenges to compete with others in.

Tesco are selling both the PlayStation 3 (click here) and XBox 360 (click here) versions for £15 each.

Shellshock 2: Blood Trails £4.99

Being the sequel to Shellshock: Nam '67, which was regarded as a decent third-person shooter, you'd think that sequel Shellshock 2: Blood Trails would be just as good – sadly, it's fallen victim to the first-person shooter trap (i.e. it's never going to be as good as Call of Duty, etc.).

Although the story is actually pretty good, this is the only positive thing I can say about this game. There's not even a multiplayer mode, so once you've completed the disappointing single player campaign you'll have little or no reason to go back to it.

If you do fancy this PlayStation 3 title, click here to buy it for £4.99 from Play.com.

Guitar Hero 5 From £17.87

You'd think by now that they would have run out of new ideas to implement in these instrument games, however Guitar Hero 5 manages to incorporate a few – the highlights of which are drop-in/drop-out play, a Rockfest competitive mode and both song-specific and general challenges to unlock bonus stuff.

The track list contains 85 songs by 83 different artists and several musicians with works in the game have been modeled for avatars, including Johnny Cash, Carlos Santana, Shirley Manson, Matthew Bellamy and, most controversially of all, Kurt Cobain.

Tesco are selling the PlayStation 3 version for £17.87 – click here for more details. XBox 360 owners can click here to buy their release for the higher price of £25.99 from the same retailer.

Picross DS is only the second Picross game to be released outside of Japan after the commercial failure that was Mario's Picross. Like other Picross games, this presents you with a series of nonogram logic puzzles to solve, either alone or against a friend.

After you've mastered the several different single player modes, you can also venture into the wilderness that is the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection and challenge other gamers across the globe.
